ancullen Posted April 17, 2005 Report Posted April 17, 2005 Anyone interested in some good suspension bits for their AE86 (or for adapting to another RWD Rolla) might want to check out www.japanesemotorsport.com.au. When you get there, go to their 'Parts in Stock' section, then click on 'Suspension'. They have a set of AE86 coilovers with KYB dampers available, as well as 30mm AE86 RCA's (whatever they are). Xany Posted April 17, 2005 Report Posted April 17, 2005 (edited) I'm pretty sure RCA's are Rear Control Arms. EEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRTTTT......wrong. listen to jamie instead..... lol Edited April 17, 2005 by Xany Quote
Super Jamie Posted April 17, 2005 Report Posted April 17, 2005 roll center adjusters spacers between strut base and steering arm, used to return steering geometry back to normal after other modification of suspension, to prevent bump steer. does not change camber Quote
Super Jamie Posted April 17, 2005 Report Posted April 17, 2005 http://www.battleversion.com/rca_blocks.htm it wouldn't be very hard to get your own RCAs made up out of billet, just trace the bottom of a strut onto paper. or if you're really lazy, put the strut base on paper and spraypaint it those negative camber RCAs are interesting. the biggest adjustment on them is about 35mm sideways. my struts are about 550mm long in the car at rest. the inverse tangent of 35mm/550mm is 0.63551 degrees extra negative camber. what a ripoff :S Quote
Super Jamie Posted April 17, 2005 Report Posted April 17, 2005 (edited) hold on. that should be inverse cosine, which means it's about 1.5 degrees more negative camber. hmm, that's alright edit: no, i was right the first time, it's inverse tangent. i don't believe 2 unit maths actually has a practical application in real life! i wonder if there was anything useful in the 18 months of calculus i slept through? Xany Posted April 17, 2005 Report Posted April 17, 2005 dammit.....i knew it was something simple like that..... rear control arms just popped into my head....*yeah that sounds right* bwahahahaha....whoops my mistake. now i'll know for next time.... Quote
demuire Posted April 17, 2005 Report Posted April 17, 2005 Jamie: I have neg camber RCA's, and I pulled an extra 1.5 degrees neg camber... Quote
ancullen Posted April 18, 2005 Author Report Posted April 18, 2005 I'm pretty sure RCA's are Rear Control Arms. EEEEEEEEEEEEEERRRRTTTT......wrong. listen to jamie instead..... lol I would have assumed that too had I not been looking at the picture. I didn't know what those things were meant to be. Thanks for the enlightenment Jamie. geeks :D Geeks with 1.5 degrees of negative camber :doublebird: :doublebird: Quote
Mr Revhead[RL] Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 hehe my upto 2deg neg cost me $30 in bolts form toyota :D Quote
demuire Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 I'm actually running -3 degrees now :D -1.5 from the RCA's, and -1.5 from a combination of Scorpion control arms and adjustable strut tops :doublebird: Quote
Super Jamie Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 AHA! maths skills spot on, i need to learn to drive the spreadsheet better :doublebird: wow, offset RCAs are cool :D Quote
