MISS SX Posted April 16, 2005 Report Posted April 16, 2005 Just want to know, is it hard to charge the 4AGE or is it just easier and cheaper to buy the 4AGZE?? i want my super charger and i want it now Quote
demuire Posted April 17, 2005 Report Posted April 17, 2005 (edited) As far as I know all FWD 4AGE's that came in Australia are MAP sensor. Only the MR2 ones are AFM. Edited April 17, 2005 by demuire Quote
Mr Revhead[RL] Posted April 18, 2005 Report Posted April 18, 2005 yup, some markets got afm but i think only USA. not sure... easy to turn 4age into 4agze, but $$ will be the problem, maybe cheape rand easier to turbo though Quote
1G-GTE KE70 Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 4A-GZE pistons and thicker metal head gasket to lower compression. Quote
Mr Revhead[RL] Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 no the4agze pistons are lower compression. 4age/4agze headgasket is the same Quote
ancullen Posted April 22, 2005 Report Posted April 22, 2005 It would be far cheaper and WAY easier to just buy a 4AGZE (about $950). At this price you'll still need to buy a computer & ancilliaries, or you could just buy an AE92 or AE101 4AGZE half-cut (not sure of price). Quote
ancullen Posted April 23, 2005 Report Posted April 23, 2005 Correction. AE101 4AGZE $1,200. Halfcuts available from about $2850. Couldn't find a price for any engine packs (engine with ECU & ancilliaries). Quote
MISS SX Posted April 24, 2005 Author Report Posted April 24, 2005 Thanks Guys for your input..... Money is but isnt a prob, cause my uncle can get me the engine really chepa and parts, just needed some extra info... Cheers :P Quote
Ratty Posted April 25, 2005 Report Posted April 25, 2005 HEY DUDE NICE ROLLA ! I FOUND SOME GOOD WEB SITES THAT MIGHT HELP U. THEY HAVE HELPED ME WITH ENGINE CHOICE FOR MY ROLLA. GOOD LUCK !!! http://www.users.bigpond.com/vidore/toyota_4age_engine.htm http://www.jaustech.com.au/engines%20-%20toyota.htm Quote
Mr Revhead[RL] Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 hey done some more lookng into this.... you can slap the s/c gear on to an n/a 4age no worries.... id go for the bigport though. the aw11 I'm buying has an n/a blutop thats had ae92 gtz s/c and ecu put on it, faster than 4agze casue of the extra compression :D Quote
Mr Revhead[RL] Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 not sure how tough the 3sge is... its all in the tuning though! Quote
ancullen Posted May 10, 2005 Report Posted May 10, 2005 hey done some more lookng into this.... you can slap the s/c gear on to an n/a 4age no worries.... id go for the bigport though. the aw11 I'm buying has an n/a blutop thats had ae92 gtz s/c and ecu put on it, faster than 4agze casue of the extra compression  So it's running 9.4:1 compression and 10psi boost? You've just captured my interest. Has it been setup that way for long??? The bigport head would also be an advantage. It's pretty much all my engine's missing (I've got AE101-spec 4AGZE). Either a bigport 16 valve or a 20 valve, that is :) Quote
ancullen Posted May 10, 2005 Report Posted May 10, 2005 Just on the topic, I plan on putting some pretty wild cams in my motor (much later down the track when I suddenly become rich  ). I'm thinking 304 intake and 288 exhaust with a bigport head. I'd take the redline out to 9000rpm, meaning that the supercharger would start making 15psi boost, but I was going to leave the compression ratio stock (8.9:1). Does anyone have any idea if this would work, or would the comp. ratio be too low for me to be able to get the engine to get up to those rpm? Quote
Super Jamie Posted May 10, 2005 Report Posted May 10, 2005 apparently you can wind 8psi into a stock 4age with minimal side effects those are pretty big cams, and that's alot of boost. not being used to working such numbers out, i'd suggest you get proper cam timing specs (304/288 can be ALOT of cams) and calculate the dynamic compression you'll get by combining that static compression, those cams, and that boost calculate DC for a stock motor, for modified motors that you know hold together, and for your plans. if yours has way more DC than the ones that work, then likely you're in trouble i couldn't really tell you an ideal DC for a 4age, those new fangled overengineered twincam crossflow things break all the rules. a long time ago you used to have to be super-careful (everything balanced within 0.5g, blueprinted, etc) running over 8.4, but a honda D series motor runs 9 stock!!!
