OniBerserker Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 do you mean hotdog as in resonator or hotdog muffler? Quote
Jason KE30 Posted February 2, 2009 Author Report Posted February 2, 2009 i mean the one that is about half way down the exhaust. do i'm guessing resonator. not muffler Quote
OniBerserker Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 resonators just resonate... i guess, muffle the exhaust a bit get the longer hot dog shaped (2 if possible) resonators when you get your exhaust done, as it adds a bit of a deeper tone ( from what i hear) any help? Quote
Jason KE30 Posted February 2, 2009 Author Report Posted February 2, 2009 i guess thats all i really needed to know just wasn't sure what it was and what it did but now i know  so i should look into gettin one with a say... 2 inch exhaust system? Quote
OniBerserker Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 yeah man get one, what size exhaust you planning on running? from the faq Haven't really done alot of research on this one. My KE35 had a resonator and a "turbo" style muffler and it wasn't too noisy. Stewart's KE15 has two resonators and a reverse flow muffler, it is about the same volume, but that's the motor  My KE25 has a small resonator and some sort of huge can and a 4" droop tip, it sounds very angry, nobody believed it was a stock 3K, now with the 4K I clutch in whenever I see a cop car. Jason KE30 Posted February 2, 2009 Author Report Posted February 2, 2009 its just that there is a rolla in the wreckers that has a two inch exhaust system with a hotdog and i was intrigued on how it works now i'm considering getting it would i need extractors for it though? because right now all i have is just stock headers Quote
OniBerserker Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 have a look to see if the if the rolla had aftermarket extractors, and if so just take the entire system, as long as it will fit your car you will need extractors if you want to get more power out of your k motor anyway Quote
philbey Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 (edited) A resonator uses sound wave overlap to cancel out engine noise. Reality is they should have a "tuned" length to get the correct note. What it looks like: a hotdog. Edited February 3, 2009 by philbey Quote
ke rollin 20 Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 ye iv had many hotdogs, tasty ones aswell as ones for my car, they basically just make the exhuast sound alot deeper tone, abit more grunt if you like.. to make it easyer to understand its basically a larger peice of pipe that you can see straight threw instead of a muffler, altho you can have them aswell as a muffler, on my ke38 wags i had a 2inch system with two hotdogs and lengthned extractors... it was pretty dam loud it basically sounded exactly like a WRX (as my mates said) you don't have to have extrators to have a hotdog ( resonator ) but i gues it wouldnt hurt... on my daily ke26 I'm running like a stockish exhuast i think, about a 1,3/4 inch system with no extractors and it runs out to 1 hotdog just before where the muffler should be, so no muffler at all, and then it just runs out to the stock 1 3/4 inch pee shooter... and it sounds sweet, dosnt sound tinnie atall.. has a nice tone. hope that helps. haydn. Jason KE30 Posted February 3, 2009 Author Report Posted February 3, 2009 hmm well it sounds like it will be alot better than the piss weak stock exhaust system that i got on my car now the system i'm lookin at is on a coupe, but that would be the same as a sedan wouldn't it? Quote
Tume Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 I have a hotdog exhaust on my ke55 and it makes it sound like a lawnmower. Not sure if its because its a 2 1/2 inch or anything but still. Getting rid of it as soon as I can. Not sure if thats the same type of thing though. Quote
furryfrog Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 just get an exhaust made up like this Quote
Jason KE30 Posted February 3, 2009 Author Report Posted February 3, 2009 woah that thing is insane i don't think i'll be goin that hardcore lol Quote
