hey just wondering how hard it is to install aircon into a ke36 and what the best option to take would be?

As Far as I know they were never factory fitted, dealers would fit at pre delivery as required the evaporator unit bolts onto your heater unit, a few ducts need to be added, probably easiest for you to find a unit remove it yourself so you know how it fits.

then simply book in for a service and regass.

2nd option is a under-dash unit as in my Ke55

If you have space I'd go with an underdash unit.

Plenty of wreckers have the front end gear, like the compressor, condensor and the hose gear, brackets etc.

If you hunt around you should be able to find a cool looking retro underdash unit with chrome knobs etc.

I thought some KE30 / KE55's had the proper setup in the heater box as you would expect from a factory fitment. I have seen this at Pick and Payless one of the times that I was there. It may be a bit more hunting, but it would look a lot more integrated.

Whats wrong with 4/80 air con?????

whats wrong with it?

I don't know about you canberra folks with your mild climate, but I would say that down here with our record 45.7 degree heat, 4/80, or WD40 air con as my old man calls it, just wont cut it!

Fair point! Mind you our 'mild climate' has been in the mid 30s almost every day!
