I have bluepoint flexible head ones and they flop around and it shits me off, I like my SP set over the bluepoint set.

Scince my younger brother 'borrowed' my ratchet set to change a tyre (he is about as sharp as a bowling ball) and broke it. I'm in the market for a new set.

ive got about $100 to spend (supercheap auto voucher).

what do people recommend for that money?

how do the HSV tools go I'm told theyre made by sidchrome?

Yep, those fine tooth ratchets are worth their weight in gold, especially the ones that you twist the handle and the ratchet spins. They're the best tool I've seen for tight spots eh, more useful then a ratchet spanner I reakon.

I wouldn't mind a set of these too but everything I've done on my rolla I can get away with a few of open ended ringies and a 1/2 inch drive socket set.

Another handy item I saw a while ago was a Sidchrome fine tooth ratchet, it's got 60 teeth instead of 30.

I see your point with the floppy head, i've used a ratchet like that and it annoyed me no end. Though don't those kinchrome spanners have a lock to stop the head moving?

i have kinchrome metric ones..my whole tool box is kinchrome and the only thing that has failed on me is my side cutters.

i always use my ratchet spanners..sometimes i even use a spanner to "lever" on the ratchet spanner to undo some bolts..the best thing is they get in to tight spaces.

Some good points made. Anyone have the flexible head type? Any good or bad points with those?

if your working on toyotas ive used my bluepoint non swivel head ratchet spanners maybe 3 times in the last 10 months

if your working on nissan you will use them all the time and any other crazy angle tools you can get your hands on :D

also agree don't put heaps of load on these babies doesnt take much to break one.

ive got the kincrome ones at home, they rock!

pretty strong too!

got a tradetools flip over 18mm for work, which takes a flogging tightening cyclone tie down rods and bolts.

i prefer the lever type ones, but remember, it will be the little locking tab thingy that operates the lever that will bust when you over load them meaning it wont work in either direction...

I have a kinchrome set... I never really used them much before but having recently purchased a Honda with the most cramped engine bay I have ever seen, I'm finding them indispensable :D

Don't buy the flexible head ones. When they wear they flop around, the lock gets stuck on, or they break altogether. Just get the normal head lever type ones, they're the best.

Ive been hanging off mine for about 3 years, I'm too lazy to go get a ring spanner to crack bolts n nuts most times of day and they are all fine I'm yet to break one.

I'm gonna regret writing that tomorrow when one breaks and i split my finger open.
