Tally Posted June 29, 2008 Author Report Posted June 29, 2008 has anyone else noticed that in the first post, the fourth picture down is a early fronted (1970-1971) ke20 with a 2t/3t. not at all unusual but it has what looks like factory 1600 badging. is this an early version of the TE27 sprinter? from my knowledge the TE27 only started production in 1973. any information on this car would be greatly appreciated. In Japan, europe and america they got 2T engines as an option in all the KE2# model range from 1970 to 1975. Australia missed out, we only got K motors in them :P Quote

Australia missed out, we only got K motors in them :P correct. TE27 is our KE25 with a 2T motor. TE21 is our KE20 with a 2T motor. I'm pretty sure thats right. i guess the T is the motor but no idea why the numbers change. anyone know?? Quote
tas_ae71 Posted June 30, 2008 Report Posted June 30, 2008 cause they can :P why did they go from ae86 to ae82? Quote
Budowski Posted June 30, 2008 Report Posted June 30, 2008 This one is really old, but just refuse the die. this looks strange it has ke20 1/4 glass and front indicators but the ass looks like a datsun 1000 and the grille looks like a 120Y Quote
Budowski Posted June 30, 2008 Report Posted June 30, 2008 correct. TE27 is our KE25 with a 2T motor. TE21 is our KE20 with a 2T motor. I'm pretty sure thats right. i guess the T is the motor but no idea why the numbers change. anyone know?? isnt a TE27 a levin or tureno only ? with the 2TG ? and a TE25 is a 2T ? I'm probably very wrong. hrmm yeh i think I'm wrong lol Quote
JiP Posted June 30, 2008 Report Posted June 30, 2008 I was under the impression that the TE21 & TE27's were LHD, and the KE20, KE25 and if there were any TE25's, they would have been RHD. Quote
Tally Posted June 30, 2008 Author Report Posted June 30, 2008 (edited) TE27s came in many forms. Here is few that I know. Correct me if I'm wrong: TE27 2T/2TC (Japan and America) JDM only: TE27 Sprinter 2TG/3K-B (twin carbs) TE27 Levin 2TG/2T TE27 Trueno 2TG/2T US only: TE27 SR5 2T/2TC TE27 SR 2T/2TC TE27 S5 2T/2TC There is also TE20, TE21, TE25, TE28 which came with 2T and 2TC (JDM and US) KE2# series all came with "K" series engine. Hope that helps. Cheers Tally Edited June 30, 2008 by Tally Quote
bernieboy Posted June 30, 2008 Report Posted June 30, 2008 (edited) Where abouts is that Publica? What country? Its RHD. Did anyone notice the fold-in style side mirrors, looks weird. Very non-original. In Japan, europe and america they got 2T engines as an option in all the KE2# model range from 1970 to 1975. Australia missed out, we only got K motors in them wink.gif True to the year range but they weren't just options. They had different transmissions, diff & wheel stud patterns. I'm not to sure about the interior though. Edited June 30, 2008 by bernieboy Quote
