about november 08 i bought this ke55 coupe of a mate for 900 bucks, with 1mm left on the front pads :no2: and a dodgy stereo install with live wires near the fuel tank! :) so i have done some work but time is short so time to create a cool, comfy daily thats fun to drive! and has real working brakes!

Plans are:

 

5k and a 5speed! (so hard to find)

interior is being retrimed in 2 weeks, black with red carpet and swift GTI buckets

auto BW diff(so i can hear myself think!)

ra40 front struts and brakes(anyone done this? seem to look right on paper)

and down the track a respray in Gun metal gray with semi-gloss black hood and upper front guards and apron

and some 14-15 inch jap rims like these

Nice find mate, how odd are those rear wind down mini windows in these old KE's!

 

All your plans seem pretty good eh, apart from using RA40 struts. The kingpin angle is wrong on them and they tend to make a poor handling car. Get XT130 corona struts and grab the lower control control arms too. That will give you 1 degree of negative camber and have superior steering geometry over the RA40 struts which induce positive camber and bump steer issues. AE86 gear is a bolt in item when using the correct steering arms and swapping the top hats too.

good to know! i think my mate has one of those ugly xt130 on his farm in hartley, so i might go thief some struts!!

any welding involved?

 

got a mate selling me a worked 5k, got a 32/36 to go on, still hunting down some Swift seats.
