Tume Posted May 25, 2009 Author Report Posted May 25, 2009 Another update: Found out today that I have been the recipient of a scholarship that I can contribute towards anything, so half of it may go towards buying a daily (maybe the rodeo I'm borrowing off uncle) and the other half may go towards the corolla for its strip down and do up project. If that happens I may be moving it to my grandma's before schedule. Either that or start collecting the parts while letting my mum drive the corolla around when motor is running....She always wanted a small 5 speed 4 door. Quote
SLO-030 Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 Ah sick man, you were just talking about it yesterday ay. Good luck to ya  Quote
Tume Posted May 30, 2009 Author Report Posted May 30, 2009 Update: Uncle has managed to get the car started. Was an earthing problem behind the alternator. Now the speedo, oil light and all of that gear in the car won't work. Car is running at 3/4 hot so he is going to muck around with the radiators. Was no thermostat in the motor so he has removed the one from mine. Carby is wanting to go on strike, however it was the carby I originally had so he is going to swap carbies for the one I got from Ryan. Quote
Tume Posted June 1, 2009 Author Report Posted June 1, 2009 And....The car is home and driving. Don't know what he did for the speedo etc, so it may have been anything. Car now feels gutless but gets up to speed quicker then the old one. Also it actually runs with no choke for once yay. Next lot of stuff to do is to start collecting stuff such as panels, interior parts, sound, and upgrade parts like diff, tailshaft, motor etc. Once I have some spare money that is. Quote
Tume Posted June 4, 2009 Author Report Posted June 4, 2009 ANOTHER UPDATE: Yesterday morning when I went to go to school the battery was dead. This was strange as it was running fine and had plenty left. Stole dad's car and went to school, came home sprayed a bit of start ya bastard and while waiting for the jumper leads decided hell, I'll turn it over and wallah it turned once and started. Charge light was on until at full revs and later on when at normal idle.
Let it idle for half hour and thought it was all charged up or atleast enough to turn over in the morning. Came out this morning and the same thing happened. While I stole dad's car again he managed to find the battery charger, charged the battery throughout the day and when I got home we started diagnosing. Unplugged the thermo fan and tried starting, since it had been charged all day turned over fine. Put the multimeter on the terminals and dad turned on the lights. Instead of the 12-14 you would expect...Less then 10. So the alternator that was on Slo-030's car has died. Luckily my uncle left me the vitals in the boot out of my old engine which is now sitting at his house. So tomorrow after school that will be changed over and should fix the problem. If it doesn't fix it, I have decided I'm not spending any money on it anymore for the time being, as it runs out of rego in a week. So it will be placed behind the gates and I will buy the uncles rodeo and use that until its warmer. Quote
Tume Posted July 27, 2009 Author Report Posted July 27, 2009 Been ages since I have updated this thing. Replaced the alternator and everything ran fine, until the dizzy kept on going. The shaft was loose and knocking the points about so for about a week I was having to reset the timing before I drove each time. The uncle had my old dizzy still so he spent a day replacing it while I was at work. Since those 2 little bugs were sorted out the car has been running beautifully without any problems at all. However am purchasing a ke30 shell to do my upgrade on soon, which will now be a 16v 4A with T50 and T series diff, XT130 twin pot front sus and brakes etc etc. When I asked my grandpa if I could use his shed he started measuring the space it would use and showing me all his equipment I can use, I think hes happy with the idea :) . So this will continue being the daily until that car is complete and then I don't know, figure out something I guess. Quote
Tume Posted November 7, 2009 Author Report Posted November 7, 2009 Another update. Have bought a new car, its ugly as hell but should be good fun and a nice comofortable daily cruiser. So this is going to be the parents spare car as one of their wagons needs a few parts fixed. Then a respray and a comfortable life for it. Quote
Tume Posted November 8, 2009 Author Report Posted November 8, 2009 A Holden VS Statesman Series II. Like I said may look ugly but is a good nice comfortable cruiser. Look on fb if you want pics. Quote
ke30dude Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 I like vs stato's to me it felt like driving a land barge orsimilar, it felt a bit bigger than the commodore it is underneath it, but a lot nicer to cruise in. Quote
Murd 55 Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 i bet my daily is way more comfy, and more economical too :) damn thing seems cheaper to run than that dirty 18, musta been tuned super badly, lol. Quote
SLO-030 Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 Mmmmmmmm Supercharged Goodness :) Quote
JJT036 Posted November 8, 2009 Report Posted November 8, 2009 Mmmmmmmm Supercharged Goodness  It depends... Only some had Supercharged V6s, some were just stock V6s. Tume, Is it a V6 or V8, and what colour is it?? Josh :) Quote
Tume Posted November 8, 2009 Author Report Posted November 8, 2009 It is a supercharged V6. Colour is plum or Reuben or something like that. The reason Ryan knew it was supercharged is because when I took it for a test drive I sent him a msg of dribble about it after. Raven has also been kind enough to offer some things to be cautious of as well for which I'm grateful. Quote
