Jason KE30 Posted April 12, 2009 Report Posted April 12, 2009 That's exactly what my front brake pads were like. All of them relatively fine except for one. Which was rooted. Quote
Tume Posted April 12, 2009 Author Report Posted April 12, 2009 Today I purchased a black tool chest for the boot of my car to store the things that I always have with me in. Ie the car emergency kit, first aid kit, sleeping bag and spare change of clothes. Am going to have to make a bracket to screw into so I can still get access to the spare Tyre, as otherwise the chest will slide around. Would have taken a photo but camera is being stupid and won't turn on, so I'll borrow sis's later. Quote
Tume Posted April 13, 2009 Author Report Posted April 13, 2009 Mmmm....I like it. Nice new black chest. Quote
roladude Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 wow your even carrying a spare muffler. :D Quote
trav_555 Posted April 13, 2009 Report Posted April 13, 2009 Hahahahahaaha MMM i don't think it could get any more coats of dust on it :D Travis Quote
Tume Posted April 13, 2009 Author Report Posted April 13, 2009 Muffler is getting put on this friday at a shop, would do it myself but don't have access to materials and equipment so its easier. Trav, yeah thats kind of the point of the chest to make sure that everything inside it isn't coated in dust for the time being and eventually just kept tidy away from anything else that ever gets put in for a short amount of time. Ie shopping or peoples gear. Quote
Tume Posted April 14, 2009 Author Report Posted April 14, 2009 Got the boot lock re-keyed so that I can use it and have the car booked in tomorrow to get new tyres chucked on as I'm not a big fan of sliding. While its in getting that sorted I'm hoping to borrow my dad's car and go grab the gear needed to start removing rust and priming it. Car won't be painted for a while yet, just wanting to get the rust out asap. Might also go to upi and grab the boot release so I don't need to always use the key. Mate's are getting annoyed they are running out of things to pay me out about with the car. Quote
Tume Posted April 18, 2009 Author Report Posted April 18, 2009 GAH! On friday I got the muffler welded on and it sounds a lot better being whisper quiet. I could finally hear the motor and that it didn't sound right at all. Today pulling off the air filter and just testing everything the throttle was sticking a tad so I sprayed some silicon spray on it to get it a tad slicker, while that happened the idle went up as if it was being sucked through the carby. Makes sense but I sprayed some along the manifold into the block just in case and found a vaccum leak at the back. THE BOLTS GONE MISSING that holds the two manifolds on in that little section, meaning that there is a little gap making a vaccum leak and explaining nearly everything that has happened. Can any bolt that will fit go on or are there torque settings that are needed for the manifold? Looking in Gregory's couldn't really see anything. Quote
Tume Posted April 18, 2009 Author Report Posted April 18, 2009 PIcture of stock muffler on, and second of the missing bolt in manifold! Yet to check if the stud has broken and is in the block or if the entire bolt has come out. Quote
Jason KE30 Posted April 18, 2009 Report Posted April 18, 2009 I just checked my manifold Tume, and mine doesn't have a bolt there either. Can't seem to figure out why... Either thats one of the k engines weak spots or Toyota got really lazy. Quote
Tume Posted April 18, 2009 Author Report Posted April 18, 2009 Looking through Gregory's the gasket has a hole for it though. So don't know, shall look tomorrow with a mirror to see if another bolt is not done up properly. May have to remove and replace gasket, if I do I hope that the manifold isn't warped :jamie: . Quote
Tume Posted May 24, 2009 Author Report Posted May 24, 2009 Ok Update: Motor and Carby were going shit for last few weeks running on a day to day basis. Made a deal with Slo 030 (Ryan) to take his and chuck it in. Went in on satdee morning to where his car was, Ryan, Luc and I pulled the motor out of his car with no drama. First problem came when removing my motor, the gearbox deciding to come with due to a vacuum seal tearing the gearbox mount and removing the tailshaft causing oil to leak out. This meant that the tailshaft needed removing and oil replaced, and Douggie ke30 made an appearance soon to be sent to upi for a spare, which I am thankful for. After that managed to put in the motor and do up all the gearbox bolts, replacing the neccesary wiring as such. Luc called it a night and Ryan helped me get gearbox oil and coolant. Placed it in and tried firing it up, after 2 hours nothing happened. Like to thank Luc's gf for giving me a place to stay for the night (while Ryan went off to the tav hunting for hot mummas  ), as I live 2 hours away roughly, so today we went back and tried some more until my dad and uncle arrived to tow it home. So now it is at my uncles who is a mechanic while he fixes it, and I have his spare Rodeo to drive. Quote
roladude Posted May 24, 2009 Report Posted May 24, 2009 Damn man no good. Hope you get it fixed easily. Quote
SLO-030 Posted May 24, 2009 Report Posted May 24, 2009 hey mate, Sorry i couldnt get it running for ya. Probably something really simple we've over looked. Quote
Tume Posted May 24, 2009 Author Report Posted May 24, 2009 Yeah, Uncle is going over the basics and going from there. At the moment the battery is getting charged so he will start tomorrow. Cheers for the effort anyway, and for being my personal chauffeur for the weekend. Except for when I was left in a strange house so some people could get pissed... Quote
