ltzgmp-ke70 Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 i have a csXX ke70 83. on the dash on the passenger side i have the tiniest of cracks beginning. its right where the little plastic edge is to divide the two compartments. how do i stop it from getting worse? i don't like the look of a dash cover so is there anything else i can do? is silicone spray the best option? and to try keep it out of direct sunlight as much as possible? thanks. leah Quote

67Rolla-Ken Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 It's not like you have a KE10!!! Quote
ltzgmp-ke70 Posted January 18, 2009 Author Report Posted January 18, 2009 It's not like you have a KE10!!! . . . good point. Quote
JiP Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 If you want to spend a crapload of money you can have the whole dash restored. But as KE70's aren't as rare, I'd just find a good dash. Quote
corolla_nut Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 drill a hole on each side of the crack and then sikaflex it up and smooth it out really well. Paint it the same colour as the rest of the dash. The holes will only need to be very small, the crack will get to this point and go no further. I would get a nice dash cover, there are some out there, you just have to look. Anything would be better than mine. I'd also keep it out of the sun, invest in a windscreen reflector thingo and treat it with some interior cleaner specialised for vinyl type applications. Failing that I'd look for a new dash. They shouldn't be that hard to find, it's a ke70. :yak: Quote
TE278U Posted January 19, 2009 Report Posted January 19, 2009 blu tack a troll doll, or bobbing head dog in place. problem solved. :yak: Quote
emu Posted January 20, 2009 Report Posted January 20, 2009 Hey corolla nut , that's really good advice about drill holes and sikaflex...............do you know whether it would work equally as well on hard plastic dashes, such as my Mazda MX5 ?? Thanks heaps, pete Quote
ltzgmp-ke70 Posted January 20, 2009 Author Report Posted January 20, 2009 troll doll is looking like a winning idea there ;) can't stand the look of a dash cover. i'd do the drill thing if the crack was bigger though. thanks for the advice everyone! Quote
