smeetsy1 Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 Hey friends, I recently bought Queen20v's ke70 panel van. Today i tried on some Simmons V4's 16" that came off my brothers car rx7. I got them all on and then reversed out of the driveway only to find that they scrub on the front shocks. I drove back into the driveway and began taking them off from the front. I got to the rear left wheel. Took all bolts off but i can't get the bloody wheel off. No matter how hard i pull it doesn't budge. I hit the back of the tyre with a mallet but was a bit hesitant because i am only using a stock jack... Can anyone assist me with this problem? Much appreciated, Will Quote

Much appreciated, Will Jack it up and block it up so it is safe. give the tyre a good kick at top and bottom, if to tight continue with the mallet. if still too tight use a jack wedge or port a power between the chassis and wheel and push off Quote
Redwarf Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 http://www.rollaclub.com/board/?showtopic=20657 Have a read of this. It also details what you have to do to make the rims fit. It's not much, but you have to do it. I find the throw the spare tyre method effective. Quote
smeetsy1 Posted January 17, 2009 Author Report Posted January 17, 2009 (edited) How do i get it off? Safely and quickly? And why exactly is the back tyre stuck on? if its 4x114.3 shouldn't it slide on and off? EDIT - Both fronts came on and off easily and these are the ones that people say get stuck? why would the backs be any different? Edited January 17, 2009 by smeetsy1 Quote
Redwarf Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 No. Really. Jack up the car, get your spare wheel, and yoink it tyre first into the wheel you want to get off. Think of it as an oversized rubber mallet. It's probably hung up on the axle center bit the your drum fits over. It must be later RX7, because the early S1 had 4x110 pattern. I thought the S2 abd 3 were too, but I could be wrong, and probably am. Quote
Taz_Rx Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 Red - S1 & 2 RX7 are 4x110. S3 is actually 4x114 and everything after S4-S8 is 5x114. :y: Had this same issues using Laser S pac wheel on my '55. Dodgy- but I found the easy way to crack them off is to put the wheel nuts on finger tight, then losen them another half turn and then take it for a quick drive up the backstreets slowly while swinging the steering wheel back and forward. I only did that when I couldn't bash them off with a lump of 4x2 though!! :yak: Quote
smeetsy1 Posted January 18, 2009 Author Report Posted January 18, 2009 Redwarf, i found your method the easiest. I kicked the right rear one and it came off easily. I couldn't kick the left rear so i hesitantly threw the spare at it, 3rd time lucky and it bounced off. The wheels came of a Rx7 Series 3. As taz said, Series 1 and 2 are 4x110. Series 3 are 4x114.3 Thanks for your help guys. Quote
Redwarf Posted January 19, 2009 Report Posted January 19, 2009 Educational experience all round I'd say. :yak: Quote
