Ben-89 Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 You've done a really good job Leah, If you keep it up the car will last a lifetime. Having said that though, if you can accomodate the car in the garage, it will be even better as it will protect it from the extreme elements (hot sun or wet weather etc) in the long run. Its amazing what armourall does isn't it, those bumberbars grill and other black plastics look like new. I would recommend for you to buy some "Forever Black" it is a black pigment that you apply to plastics for a permenant sheen that can last for years. And does not come off after car washing.... Ive used it and the finish is perfect. I gave 3 coats for each bumper after letting each coat dry for 10 mins until I got it how I liked it. Armourall is good but after it comes in contact with water it virtually washes off and leaves streaks, needing to be re applied again. Which is what turned me off.. The chrome work came up great!! did you use the same polish that was for the paint? Having polished the chrome too, I would recommend for you to use either Autosol metal polish, or Eagle One metal/alloy polish if you wish to. Did/are you going to polish the mag wheels, or leave them until you upgrade them. Quote
ltzgmp-ke70 Posted January 18, 2009 Author Report Posted January 18, 2009 (edited) thanks for all your support, it really makes me want to keep it in perfect condition. i wish i could keep it in a garage but however as I'm still living at home, my dads cars take priority and there's not a chance in hell of me convincing him that a toyota should be garaged over old school english cars. but i guess it's his garage that he paid for. . . Forever Black sounds like a good idea, when I'm next at a car shop i'll look out for some. I havn't even started polishing the paint yet, my arm was sore enough after all the chrome and bumper bars. For the chrome i did use Autosol Shine, which i found under the sink. . . mum uses it for the steel appliances LOL I just used my fingers to rub it into the chrome until it turned black and then wiped it off until it was shiney. I attempted a spot on the wheels with Autosol, but it really didn't make a huge difference to it so I didn't bother continuing. To be honest, I don't even like the look of those mag wheels, so I can't wait to get them off and get those gold SSR's i mentioned on for a while. I'll just keep the stockies in the garage for safe keeping and emergencies. Any other suggestions that you can think of? I'm outside right now trying to stop my dash splitting anymore. It only has a TINY crack beginning. Silicone spray is my best mate today. Just remembered, I'm on the look out for a boot lip to fit ke70. . . if anyone can help me out. . . well. . hi-five and kudos to you. Edited January 18, 2009 by ltzgmp-ke70 Quote

ltzgmp-ke70 Posted January 18, 2009 Author Report Posted January 18, 2009 (edited) Seeing as the weather was so perfect today, i spent another afternoon in the driveway cleaning. . . Vacuumed whole car out, wiped all surfaces and sprayed silicone spray on hard surfaces especially the dash. Below is before and after photographs. Hopefully the crack doesn't get much bigger soon. Before anything::: (ignore the dots, they're just shadows) After a clean and spray::: I also went through the stuff that was in the glove box and check out what i found :yak: Full set of manuals for the car::: Lots of receipts dating back to 99' . . also had the previous owners Dorevitch Pathology form - hope he didn't need that While I've got the time I'm just slowly going through and fixing minor details before the RWC is done and it's rego'd. Can anyone tell me, just infront of the centre console, is there meant to be a black plastic thing. . i guess you'd call it a liner? Like under the handbrake. I can just see the tops of screws and I'm wondering if I'm missing that part. . . Edited January 18, 2009 by ltzgmp-ke70 Quote
ltzgmp-ke70 Posted January 19, 2009 Author Report Posted January 19, 2009 its a 35deg day today so my morning was spent with a mate cleaning the engine bay (thanks thompson :yak: ), until it got way too hot. it come out pretty nice i think, but I'll feel much better about it with minor things changed. to do:: two new radiator hoses change the oil change the coolant new water reservoir, mine is full of grime and off looking moldey shit, maybe a clean will fix it. new oil filter new spark plugs carby cleaner i can't wait for it to get a rwc so i can actually start changing shocks, springs etc. before::: i forgot to take one just before we started, but its still dirty here::: after::: what do you people think? good/bad? Suggestions? Quote
Queen20v Posted January 19, 2009 Report Posted January 19, 2009 Gee, that's one clean as ksev. Try Gun Wash for the tar. If you make sure not to scrub the actual paint hard with it and wash it off once you've finished you'll be fine. Not sure if it'll work but it's got everything off my cars in the past. We silicone spray our hoses too to keep them nice and supple. You've done a great job. Grab seat covers and a dash mat to stop dirt and cracks and you'll be laughing. Can't believe you got it so cheap! Quote

Can't believe you got it so cheap! Thanks man. Yeah a lot of people seem to be jealous of it, especially cos it was SO cheap. Thus is the beauty of buying things from people who don't know what they're looking at :yak: Also, what's Gun Wash? I've never heard of that before. And where would i get what ever it is? I'll silicone spray my new hoses when i put them in, no point wasting time with the current ones, they're pretty ruined. Quote

Just an idea. . . Quote
adam-__- Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 Nah, personally not a fan of them at all. Maybe some Hoshino Impul G5s? They look similar to the ones you've chosen. Quote
