Ke30 Key Barrel

Gday,

I'm trying to get the key barrel (ignition) out of my ke30. But have know clue how it comes out

Tried for a 2 hours. Belt with the hammer wont work. Its probly some thing easy as.

Any help would be great cheers Jamie

take the black covers off and just look at it and see where the screws are undo them and you should be right i havnt done much with that but ive taken off the covers and i remember couple of screws

If in doubt, use a hammer....the bigger the doubt, the bigger the hammer.

 

If you can't fix it with a hammer. you've got an electrical problem :|

I don't know i had a pretty big hammer :|

Taken the black cover of and there are no screws or bolts in ke30s that i can see.

Its got me stuffed and i need the barrel for my project car. Cause i did not get the keys for it :jamie:

It's been a while since i took mine off my car so I'm not completely sure but from memory once you have taken off the black plastic covers there should be two bolts underneath the ignition barrel just undo those and it should come off.

No there not mate iv looked every were and tryed all sorts of shit. :|

Do you want to remove the barrel from the housing or the housing completely from the steering column?

 

Barrell from the housing requires you to turn the key to a certain point and push in the little button on the barrel to extract it from the housing.

Well i have the key for the other one so can get it out now cheers Raven

But i don't have the key for my car

So do i have to remove the housing or is there a simple way to take it of.

See if another corolla key fits the one for your car. They're usually that worn out that another key will be able to turn it :|

Put the key in and turn ti acc, then using a fine pointed object, eg a ball point pen, push in the little button that should be facing you. Push it in and give the barrel a wiggle. should straight out.

 

 

Its all spelled out in the manuel....

If you don't have the key you may need to drill it out.
