Hi.

I was given this car to me buy my old man as he is looking for a falcon ute now. I know its not a Toyota but i like this website alot more than others so its going up here.

Specs:

1986 NC Mitsubishi Pajero short wheel base model.

2.6 astron engine and 5 speed

Auto front hubs.

Aluminum checker plate side steps

Aluminum 2 poster bull bar with 100w spot lights.

Brand new complete rear diff 20,000km ago with LSD.

New front cv's a few weeks ago.

Just replaced timing case seals and gave it a service.

Fitted 235/75/15 tires too 15x7 steel wheels. I wanted 265/75/15 on 15x8's but they scrub when on full lock.

Just converted it to H4 globes instead of seal beams.

Fitted my JVC cd player and speakers of coarse.

Fitted a LED brake light in the rear window as when 4WD'ing in heavy rain the normal bulbs are hard to see.

Fitted my fire extinguisher and i hope i never have to use it.

Plans/what it needs:

don't roll while off road.

Fit a front locker.

Fit extractors and new exhaust system.

Change the carby as the vacuum secondary play up from time to time.

Fit thermo fans up to a a proper thermostat switch.

Pull all air con out and use the switch for a thermo fan while off road.

I'm thinking of winding the front torsion bars up 50mm and getting longer shackles for the rear. I don't want to change tire sizes as the speedo will go way out if i fit 31's. Has 29's now.

Hi mate

Get a Lokka right Lock from www.4wdsystems ($599) and you will be climbing mountains!!! :P

As for the tires get 31's or 32's. Yep your speedo will be out. I have 35' under my 4wd and

according to the gps I am only 10 Km/p out!! With 31's or 32's is even less!!

Wind up the torsion bars and reset the leaves and get longer/extended shackles!! :P

Why taking out the airco???

Good luck

Love the panel van in the back :D

BTW have a look at the 4wd monthly web side

Des how long before you see if it drifts :P

With the bus steering wheel and more body roll than Teddy's white ke70 i don't try any more. 31's will put it out by 10%, Air con doesn't work and i can't have all the windows up so its useless if it did work.

I also have a problem, It wont start. During the timing case seal swap you must remove the dizzy so i marked it and set it to #1 TDC and marked the dizzy. Put it all back together properly and now i can't even get it to cough or stutter to start. It just back fires through the carby. Ive spent about 2 hours moving the dizzy one tooth before, 1 tooth back and retarding advancing the timing and no change at all. It has spark and fuel but still no dice. any ideas ?

Either that or hold the dizzy and rotate the car.....

Thank you!! I'm here all week......

Sounds like it may be your issue though.

Tried that, Checked the timing and its not 180 out. Its got spark so I'm starting to lean towards a fuel problem but i didnt touch the fuel side of things but i will check anyway.

Got it going this morning, Rotor button must have been knocked or something upon removal as it was cracked.

Aren't those problems just the suckiest?

You look for all the normal logical things, and it ends up being something you'll never do again in 3 lifetimes.

Still, all's well that ends well. :(
