Jonas dc Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 (edited) After spending (to) much time on this board I thought it was time to open my own topic. Just to know what you guys think about my ride and give me some advise. My name is Jonas, I'm from Oudenaarde Belgium. I've been a Toyota-enthousiast for whole my life and since last year I have my own Corolla. I'm now studying my first year of carmechanics (it's a 3 year course) and I'm learning a lot from it. This is how i bought the car: Interior: Temporary sound system (for a day :P ): New Stereo (2 old speakers in the back just the have some music. I don't want the car to falling appart through bass ;) ) Painted the wheels as a temporary solution. They are now fitted with new tyres and I'm going to respray the centre and polish the edge: Rusty sh*t: Fixed the rusty spots: I had just washed the car so the drups you are seeing are just wather, not paint To bad didn't put more effort in getting the rust away, after 6 months it all starts coming back... And worse! Picture of today in the snow: Photoshop lowered and stripes: As for now I'm really not satisfied with the way she is running', With the cold weather the engine doesn't run like it should be. Plans: - Lower the car (lowering blocks at the back and try to lower the front woth a combination of mines and ta22 springs. Don't know how to explain but someone told that this could work) - Clean up under the hood and give it a close look together with someone who knows more about it than me - Polish the wheels - Clean up the trunk and make it look good - Install the new bootseal - Find some new door pulls - Install a second mirror on the passenger-door - Get away from al the rust! But this time with more care and time - Maybe striping like the picture above In the future: An engine swap, i would like to install a 2T-B as a 2T-G is to hard to find and to expensive and my uncle has a 2T-B that I can buy. But for now I'll start with all the other things ;-) Updates to come in februari as I am now studying for big tests (well actually I'm searching thru the board the whole time :( ) Tell me what you think, all information is welcome! JiP Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 WoW mate, great start for a project. Those door pulls can be found on ebay. They are definitely on the au version. I can dig up the link if you want. As for the passenger mirror you could find one on here, just look for an early KE70 as they had that style and we drive on the left. But all up looking great. Keep us posted on your updates. :P Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 Love the KE30 2-door sedans, the late-KE55 tail-lights really look a treat too (I prefer them over the early-55/KE30 sedan tail-lights). Pity about the rust returning, but since you've got a photo of it in snow then I guess it's not that surprising, perhaps once you've got it all cut out and fixed up again you should go over the car with fish-oil to help prevent future break-outs (geez, I sound like an acne skin cream commercial)... 7shades Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 Belgium eh.... Swap you a door mirror for some of that tasty tasty chocolate :P Quote

JiP Posted January 6, 2009 Report Posted January 6, 2009 We are the only ones that got KE55's. Everyone else continued to receive KE30's. So to them thats a late KE30 grille with late KE30 tail lights. Surprised that they didn't get foam pull handles like us. Quote
Jonas dc Posted January 6, 2009 Author Report Posted January 6, 2009 (edited) KE30 Door Pull Yes I found those yesterday to but I'm thinking of combining it with another product of this seller so I'm waiting for a moment, Thx! Belgium eh.... Swap you a door mirror for some of that tasty tasty chocolate :D Haha! Fine by me, I can't insure you that it will still be as good when it arrives Love the KE30 2-door sedans, the late-KE55 tail-lights really look a treat too (I prefer them over the early-55/KE30 sedan tail-lights). Yeah I know but it doesn't snow here a lot so I couldnt control myself doing some donuts on that parkinglot. But you are right, it's impossible to keep the car rust-free, it also always outside with a car-cover.. We are going to build a carport but I have to much work for school etc... that interior looks awesome, love the handbrake cover, really looks niceis that ke55 grille stock over in belgium or did you place it in?? Handbrake cover is original, or do yyou mean the cover for the gearlever? That's from a toyota starlet and adjusted. That old rubber was totally broken and when I drove true mud I got it all up in my face :y: We are the only ones that got KE55's. Everyone else continued to receive KE30's.
