Tally Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 (edited) Just want to know what settings I should go by when adjusting things such as valve clearances and rest. My engine is a 4K with a 3K-H head so I don't know what to use... like do I adjust engine stuff in regards to a 4K engine or a 3K engine. or are all the settings the same between K engines? any help would be great I have a corolla 1200 workshop manual for the E20 series but it doesnt list the 3K-H and I havnt got a 1300 workshop manual for an E7 so I will get one if I have too... philbey Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 For your clearances, I'd use the 4k settings if your rods and lifters are original 4k. Quote
ksev Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 i would just recommend using 3k valve settings just to be safe, although i would doubt there would be much difference between 3 and 4k heads. let me know how it goes (power wise) i was thinking about getting a 3k head for my 4k, more compression :P Quote
ksev Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 For your clearances, I'd use the 4k settings if your rods and lifters are original 4k. yes true i didnt really think of that Quote
camerondownunder88 Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 Easy.... Use the 4K settings. When I got a cam reground I asked the cam shop same question as I ran shaved head ETC.. They told me grind/profile of the cam determins clearence settings. So for EG. 5K with 3K-B cam run 3K-B settings. 4K with a 2K cam run 2K settings. List goes on. So if it is an original 4K cam use the 4K cam clearances EASY. Cameron Quote
