LukeAE71 Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 Hi guys, I need to borrow an engine crane to lift out my 4AC. Can anyone help?? I would prefer one that folds down to put in car boot but I won't be fussy. Thanks Luke Can supply Beer, Spirits of some kind or wine as I work for a Wine Company. 0434 326 343 Quote

LukeAE71 Posted January 5, 2009 Author Report Posted January 5, 2009 if you got something to hang it from i got a block and tackle you can borrow Cheers it seems there are many block and tackle out there also. I have no support to hang it from. I have heard of a swing set being used though :P Thanks for the offer though. Quote
LukeAE71 Posted January 7, 2009 Author Report Posted January 7, 2009 Where are you located? I am located in Adelaide Hills just out of Woodside. If it is a fold down one it will be easy to move, however can organise trailer if it is not. :y: Quote
greenmac80 Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 if you can't get one seriosly a 4ac motor would be pretty light. strip it down ot leave it. length of wood across quarters tie rope around it and with two people... lift!!! unbolt gearbox tho!! i did this with a k motor. and have done it once with my 20v. Johno Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 I wouldn't be resting the block of wood on the quarter panels with the engine attached, you could dent it very easy. Sounds good in theory though. I'm sure if you used your mussels you and another person could get it out. I think it weighs about 280kgs with gearbox, 220kg without. I just hired a crane for the day when i lifted my 4ac out. Cost me $54 for 24 hours and they fold up and fit in a station wagon. Quote
luke.t. Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 yeah i say strip it as much as possible and gather some gorilla's to lift it out..... Quote
bLinded_ Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 Pole, chain and a rope. Makes it possible to remove a 4k and box together, so should be a piece of cake just lifting out a stripped 4AC. Quote

philbey Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 I've lifted K motors with box on just 2 blokes with rope standing on the quarters. Quote
LukeAE71 Posted January 8, 2009 Author Report Posted January 8, 2009 These are all good suggestions... however still looking for an engine crane. My car is in quite good condition, don't fancy standing on the quarters or anything like that  Plus I need something to lower in the new engine, stuffed if I'm lowering that in by hand with a piece of wood :P Quote
