KE354AGE Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 why is a 5k illegal? i was under the impression that you could fit an engine from the same series as long as it wasn't older, and wasn't more than 500cc (not real sure on the exact figure, but around that) larger than the original. maybe that's just in vic... 08ftw Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 If the first digits of the engine number are different, or the car wasn't released from factory with the engine in it, then you need a mod plate. Quote
KEI069 Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 i am on my p's for now but the car is coming off the road for a full track car i was looking at a ca18det what use think I just don't get it, you can't have a turbo or supercharger cos youre on you p's, but you want a 1.8 twin cam turbo. Why not just drop a 350 chev in it and be done with it. And while youre there you could put a nine inch in the rear and a tremec 5 speed, perfect for the track i reckon! Quote

666westy999 Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 HA, HA A, i have to thank these forums cos as stupid as half the posts are, i at least get a good laugh out of reading them... bud before you swap engines and all that shit, get yours tuned sweet and running nicely, get your car handling and stopping correctly, then by the time you can drive well enough u would be off your P's and can mod your self till the cows come home! and if your already a good enough driver for a billion-horsepower car, get a track car and start yourself a career... beerhead Posted January 31, 2009 Report Posted January 31, 2009 Dude, on a public forum giving advice like this is kinda frowned upon eh. People can do whatever they like at the end of the day, but we all should be following the letter of the law when building cars. This is more for our own protection than anyone else when it comes to matters like this. The only time when things like this will get back to you is when someone dies or is seriously injured in a crash and someone wants to point the blame towards someone. It's probably not worth the risk at the end of the day. As others have suggested spend your cash on suspension mods to begin with, worry about a power once you're off your P's and you've had a few more years on the roads. you can just grind the engine number and punch the engine number from your 4k in the side, abit dodgy but hey its a corolla also its not to hard to hide a fmic, you can't even see mine and its pretty big. e70driftpig Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 5k is illegal, but if you are willing to take the risk, easiest option. Looks almost exactly the same as a 4k, and apparently gives a bit more power. Trying to find one though... I may have one up for sale soon. pending. sucks to be a queenslander!!! in vic we can put in any engine up to %20 power increase of the largest engine fitted to that vehicle/chassis from factory!! without a modplate/engineers report as long as it bolts in as it did from factory! hence....5k or 7k would be perfectly legal! and at the same time......if you can introduce me to a cop that could tell the diff by looking at them i would give you my 4k! josh Quote
rjenman Posted May 25, 2009 Report Posted May 25, 2009 whilst everyone is talking about illegal shit on a public forum! i'm a murderer! i'm also a drug dealer! here is my address and all of my incriminating evidence! oh wait, thats a bit silly. Quote
