TRD ke70 Posted January 1, 2011 Author Report Posted January 1, 2011 Started the fiber glass mould today for the front bumper. Doesn't look the prettiest but it's only a mould, as long as the inside is nice. I'm thinking it'll get plenty of use!! :lolcry: Quote
Trev Posted January 1, 2011 Report Posted January 1, 2011 I reckon that it is going to be fairly hard to try to pull the bars out of the mould, when I made the skyline racebar the mould was made out of a flexible mould maker covered with a shit load of mould release and it was still hard to get the bar out. TRD ke70 Posted January 2, 2011 Author Report Posted January 2, 2011 Trev, i thought the same, but to my surprise it released really easily. Still had to use wedges on it but after splitting the bumper sides, it came away fine. The mould has come out better than i expected it too, i thought there would be heaps to clean up and repair. Trev Posted January 2, 2011 Report Posted January 2, 2011 Good to see that it came out without a problem. Quote
TRD ke70 Posted January 2, 2011 Author Report Posted January 2, 2011 yeah mate, all luck, no skill!! :lolcry: Quote
trd Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Just a small update Finished the rear bumper mould tonight. and i have a front fiberglass bumper ready to come out of its mould tomorrow And the car goes in for its exhaust on monday. Quote
Medicine_Man Posted January 7, 2011 Report Posted January 7, 2011 Awesome, Hope that bar comes out of the the mould a lot nicer :P Quote
TRD ke70 Posted January 8, 2011 Author Report Posted January 8, 2011 Got heaps done today. Tony has cleaned up the front bumper and is now trying to fit it to the car. Grip taped the drivers floor, looks nice and clean. Found a place for the warning triangles to sit and velcro'd the OK boards to the inside back doors. Glassed up the rear bumper, so that'll be ready to come out of it's mould tomorrow. Screwed the front stone tray on for the last time and also fitted the drivers inner guard liner. Also cable based the battery cables down. And last but not least, the Corolla got it's DX badge!! :o Very close to having this on the road, i thinking within a month now, if not sooner. Quote
jimi91 Posted January 8, 2011 Report Posted January 8, 2011 :o wow mate looks great ur on the home stretch  hope to see a vid of it driving soon :lolcry: keep up the good work !!! see ya jimi Quote
TRD ke70 Posted January 9, 2011 Author Report Posted January 9, 2011 bit of a slow day. Got the back bumper released from the mould and looks great. Strange thing is the bar ends don't quite fit as well as they should.(Taiwanese bar me thinks) Never mind Tony will smash them off!!! Loaded the car for it's trip to the exhaust shop as well. Quote
beerhead Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 You could put 10 airbags from steering wheels set in foam in the fibreglass bumper and have a "Ah f%#k - tree" Button! Quote
snot35 Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 2011 Corolla of the year. That is all :) Quote
ke70dave Posted January 9, 2011 Report Posted January 9, 2011 mmmm that is cool, well done guys. don't need a spare service crew for the corolla?:P Quote
TRD ke70 Posted January 10, 2011 Author Report Posted January 10, 2011 Thanks Brad, but i have other ideas. :lolcry: Snot, i think there's better cars out there, but thanks for the vote. Dave, yip, you bet there'll be a place on the crew for you. Quote
