TRD ke70 Posted July 27, 2010 Author Report Posted July 27, 2010 Hey Jimi, Yip she'll be up there on the Friday night. Yeah it should go well on this event, had dramas at the WRC, which was it's last event. Has a new clutch, rebuild diff, repainted engine bay, and lots more has been done. Marius, the owner has done a fantastic job of preparing it. If you'd seen it last Friday, it was a shell, it's now already to go!! If your out by the service park on Saturday or Sunday, come over and say hi, I'll be there servicing!! :jamie: Quote

ke70dave Posted July 31, 2010 Report Posted July 31, 2010 hey mate, saw the VW last night. damn it goes well!!! sounded sweet. i got a bit of a video of it coming around the finish line, might put it up on the youtube sometime. what was the best time you guys got? how good was atkinson in the satria? far out he was giving that car hell!! btw don't know any rally teams looking for some extra service staff? id love to help out. also if you heard about some idiots getting stuck in an ae86 trying to get into the carpark....that was me and my mate. they reckoned we would get through, but we got in like 2m and sunk to the chassis rails:P so so so muddy. TRD ke70 Posted August 1, 2010 Author Report Posted August 1, 2010 (edited) Hey mate, yeah i do know of a team looking for service crew. Where are you based? Talk to me via PM!! Unfortunately the Polo blew a head gasket at the end of stage 2 on Saturday and had to retire. Very disappointing considering all the effort that went into it for this event, but just can't for-see some problems. Edited August 1, 2010 by TRD ke70 Quote
TRD ke70 Posted August 10, 2010 Author Report Posted August 10, 2010 Tony is currently porting the new head and I'm still trying to finish the sump!! Cardboard fuel tank went to Mr sheetmetal today to get fabricated, so hopefully we'll have a nice new alloy fuel tank in a week or two. But i now have to cut into the shell again to relocate the pump. New steering wheel has been ordered, should be here in a week. Things seam to be moving slowly, but at least it's getting done. Quote
Trev Posted August 10, 2010 Report Posted August 10, 2010 How big is the tank going to be, looks about the same capacity as standard, nice to see you will be able to use the spare wheel holder too. Quote
TRD ke70 Posted August 10, 2010 Author Report Posted August 10, 2010 We worked it out to be about 40ltrs, really don't need that much. Always found that the engine didn't use that much extra, I believe a well tuned engine shouldn't use too much more fuel as it's more efficient. Hope the 4AGE doesn't use too much either!! Quote
TRD ke70 Posted August 15, 2010 Author Report Posted August 15, 2010 (edited) And the porting of the head continues, Tony is loving every minute of it. :P I think so far he has spent 20 hours and is only half way through. Have almost finished the sump and the baffling, Just need to clean it up, oil pump pick up is also finished and that needs to be cleaned as well. Hopefully the pistons will be back this week so I can start stitching the engine together. New steering wheel should also be here this week. The sump with baffle plate. exhaust port almost finished. Chamber shape is looking good. Note: the manifold needed to be pinned. Inlet ports starting to take shape. Edited August 15, 2010 by TRD ke70 Quote
rob323 Posted August 18, 2010 Report Posted August 18, 2010 btw don't know any rally teams looking for some extra service staff? id love to help out. Come help Chris out this Saturday at Esk :D Chris, can I give you a jerry of fuel to take up to Hampton for me? I hopefully won't need it but would rather have something there just in case. We only used about 40 litres of fuel to do the whole Rally Q ;) With regards to the fuel tank, are you guys doing the same lift pump type set up that Craig has in his celica? Oh, and be prepared for me to pick your brains (like you tell the sheep, just hold still and it won't hurt) about extractor design for the pizza delivery car if we can convince you to hang around a bit on Saturday night. Rob. Quote
