ke70dave Posted January 2, 2013 Report Posted January 2, 2013 yeah it is the cost of the gas bottle that steers me away form gas mig, especially considering how often ill be using it. Quote
TRD ke70 Posted January 4, 2013 Author Report Posted January 4, 2013 The work continues. Doing some body repairs at the moment. Sills had some damage. and the back panel had been smashed off, lucky it's fiberglass and we have a mould. New one all made and trial fitted to the car. Inside floor tunnel all painted after the mounts been relocated.same with the under side. Tony's has finished the modifications to the gearbox, now just waiting on the close ratio kit turning up. Should be here by the end of the month. Quote
TRD ke70 Posted January 6, 2013 Author Report Posted January 6, 2013 Decided to clean up and repaint the bumpers, they were full of stone chips. Half way through making the gearbox X member, biggest problem will be attaching the sump guard to it. Quote
TRD ke70 Posted January 6, 2013 Author Report Posted January 6, 2013 (edited) Finally got to meet Matt (LittleRedSpirit) in the weekend, great putting a face to the name and listening and seeing what's been done to his Corolla. He does a very nice job of everything, good to see someone doing a good job of everything. Have finally finished the gearbox cross member. Front bumper is back together with new lenses and back on the car. Rear one has been painted, bar ends repainted and bolted back onto the bumper, just waiting for the paint to dry on the rear panel and the bumber can get refitted. Found a little video as well from Broder Rangers Rally too. Edited January 6, 2013 by TRD ke70 Quote
TRD ke70 Posted January 8, 2013 Author Report Posted January 8, 2013 The old Brantz (rally trip computer) has done a great job since 1988, but it was time replace it with sometime better. Lighter and easy to use. Weighs in at 26grams!! Quote
mc68 Posted January 8, 2013 Report Posted January 8, 2013 Boys. About time i come annoy you again! plus i need to do some welding :P Andy Quote
TRD ke70 Posted January 8, 2013 Author Report Posted January 8, 2013 yeah sure, no problem. Mig or Tig? Quote
TRD ke70 Posted January 9, 2013 Author Report Posted January 9, 2013 Sills repainted, back bumper with new fiberglass stone tray all fitted up. Now onto rebuilding the TRD shocks. Quote
TRD ke70 Posted January 15, 2013 Author Report Posted January 15, 2013 We've almost finished rebuilding our TRD shocks. Pulled the last front one apart tonight and this was the oil that came out of it. Had a great score in the weekend, thanks to Andy for the JDM bellhousing, cost a big FAT ZERO, just a little welding. Assembled one of the rebuilt shocks with it's new 300mm springs, now has 50mm more travel. Quote
supra2 Posted January 15, 2013 Report Posted January 15, 2013 Have you got your close ratio gear set yet? I bet those gear box mounts were fun to move. I know your pain Chris. Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted January 15, 2013 Report Posted January 15, 2013 Is that a steel rear bumper? Was the glass not durable enough for rally? Or is it just painted silver? Quote
mc68 Posted January 15, 2013 Report Posted January 15, 2013 Ohh I'm going to claim alot more welding for that bellhousing.. Ill bring over the dog next time! hahaha, I'm blatantly copying your oil cooler position now :) Quote
TRD ke70 Posted January 16, 2013 Author Report Posted January 16, 2013 (edited) Craig, because the corolla is a General body it's only got 2 x member bolt holes, where the old one had 3 been a japan corolla. Yes it was painful. Still waiting on the gearset, should be here in 2-3 weeks hopefully. Matt, those are still fiberglass bumpers, tony just gave them a clean up and painted them, they do look good. Andy, anytime mate, we're moving the oil cooler somewhere else now!! :moon: Edited January 16, 2013 by TRD ke70 Quote
mc68 Posted January 16, 2013 Report Posted January 16, 2013 Booowlshit... Where? (it ʞ©$ɟing does not fit where I want it anyway) Quote
altezzaclub Posted January 16, 2013 Report Posted January 16, 2013 we're moving the oil cooler somewhere else now Any data on what tempeture the oil was before fitting it, and what temp it is with it on there? I took the RA40's one off and ditched it, just more complicated stuff getting in the way and likely to go wrong. An oil thermometer is on a list somewhere.. Quote
