trd Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 finally got the seats back from the trimmers Quote
Doogs Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 Hey mate, yip it was all done with a mig, wire buffed first, (heated up with propane Jane if there was any sealant) then welded. Then ground back (most of the time) to reduce the size and weight of the weld. Bastard of a job!!!! Oh and the old car was a screamer, I love avgas!!! Cheers, nice to know. Quote
LittleRedSpirit Posted May 24, 2010 Report Posted May 24, 2010 The seats look great. I was wondering... do you do anything special with the steering rack. You use a quaife rack and pinion or powersteering arms or anything for more lock? Quote

TRD ke70 Posted May 24, 2010 Author Report Posted May 24, 2010 The seats look great. I was wondering... do you do anything special with the steering rack. You use a quaife rack and pinion or powersteering arms or anything for more lock? Yeah, we have a quaife rack with AE86 pwr steer arms. The rack isn't that old, i think it done one event before we pulled the car apart. Tony said it took a little to get use to it. But the sprinter arms have been in there since 1998. Lock isn't that bigger deal, probably how quick you get the lock would be more important for us and how less you have to work, saying that, it does have excellent lock. How's yours coming along? Sorry to hear about your engine dramas, but it sounds like you've got it sorted now. One last thing!! we need more pic's. ;) Quote
TRD ke70 Posted May 30, 2010 Author Report Posted May 30, 2010 (edited) Didn't think we got a lot done this weekend but looking back we have. Finished the wiring around the front of the car, which includes the thermo fan, horn, indicators and park lights. Mounted the oil cooler, thermo fan relay and bolted up the earths for the driving light relays. Tony deburred the block all ready to go to the machine shop on Monday, along with the crank, rods, pistons, flywheel, pressure plate and rocker covers(small welding job to be done). Forged pistons. Thermo fan relay wiring done! Pressure plate (mmmm) Edited September 7, 2012 by TRD ke70 Quote

TRD ke70 Posted June 14, 2010 Author Report Posted June 14, 2010 Not much to report for this week, just wiring and more wiring, F**ken over wiring!!! A lot more stuff has been re-installed into the car, two way, terraphone, tail lights are wired, alternator bracket turned up, now just needs to be lightened. Slowly making my way to the dash wiring. Waiting for the machine shop to finish with the engine bits so we can assemble the bottom end. Quote
TRD ke70 Posted June 27, 2010 Author Report Posted June 27, 2010 Wiring is still continuing, engine has come back from the machine shop, so that will go together sometime. Alternator bracket arrived and we have trial fitted that. Two way and intercom are all wired and screwed in. Quote
