twisted2 Posted April 25, 2010 Report Posted April 25, 2010 what the radiator out off?? was hard to fit up? Quote
TRD ke70 Posted April 25, 2010 Author Report Posted April 25, 2010 Lower control arms are all most completed, welded in the housings and then tony cleaned and painted them, ready for the spherical's to be fitted. Just have to make the inserts to push against the bush and they'll be finished. Finished the Hyd handbrake today, had to modify a copper washer, so that's all done. Connected the clutch pedal and fitted the alloy pedal plate to the pedal. Had to remove the radiator to cut of the trans cooler lines, obviously not needed. So it's now on to the wiring, oh what fun that'll be!! Quote
TRD ke70 Posted April 27, 2010 Author Report Posted April 27, 2010 Catch tank has turned up, will be fitted in the weekend. Very nice!! Quote

TRD ke70 Posted April 30, 2010 Author Report Posted April 30, 2010 Thanks Mr Yoda!! Will try to keep up the good work. Today the TRD valve springs turned up along with a reduction drive starter, that'll be pulled down and reco'd. more updates this weekend!! Quote
TRD ke70 Posted May 2, 2010 Author Report Posted May 2, 2010 well i did nothing on the car yesterday, but have started to mount all the electrics today. The idea is to mount all the electrics and then run the cables, saves over cabling the car. Tony has finished the bushes and spaces for the lower control arms and dummy fitted them today. Dash frame all cleaned and painted LCA's dummy fitted. Starting of the driving light wiring. Quote
TRD ke70 Posted May 3, 2010 Author Report Posted May 3, 2010 Well not much further forward today. Almost have the driving lights, starter, and alternator wiring sorted and run. Have mounted the steering column, so i know where to run wires to. Thinking I should have cleaned it first!! :) Tony has finished the lower arms and is just waiting for the paint to dry before fitting them. Quote
TRD ke70 Posted May 9, 2010 Author Report Posted May 9, 2010 The diff is finally in the car, brake lines have been connected. Just waiting for the bushes for the top arms to arrive and they'll be finished. Steering rack has been rebuilt, didn't really need a lot, just a change of housing cause the old one had a dint in it. And the wiring continues, finished off mounting the relays for the rally 2000's and have started running the wiring for the headlights, parkers, indicators, and engine fan. Have ordered the banjo fittings for the fuel pump and the sandwich plate for the oil cooler should be here this week. Quote
rob323 Posted May 12, 2010 Report Posted May 12, 2010 That catch can is a bit RICE'IER than the old one. Definitely looks heavy! :blinks: Quote
TRD ke70 Posted May 16, 2010 Author Report Posted May 16, 2010 Very little got done this weekend as Tony had to work Saturday and I needed to get my shit box looked at. Thanks to Craig(Steerfast in Towoomba) the Navara now doesn't make noises in the front end and it steers dead straight. Found that Nissan hadn't tightened up the camber adjustment bolts!!!!!! Anyhow we dropped the corolla onto it's wheels so we could have a clean up. Packed the old TRD engine away, hopefully she'll live to see another day! Fuel pump banjo's turned up along with some special bolts, hoping to start on the engine next week. Just need to clean up the inside of the block, remove any castings dags so it can then go to the machine shop and get bored and surfaced, while there, all the reciprocating components will be balanced. Still lots to do!! Note the guard dog, she maybe full of puppies!! Quote
Doogs Posted May 19, 2010 Report Posted May 19, 2010 Top build mate, fascinating stuff. Was all the seam welding done with a MIG ? Cheers Quote
TRD ke70 Posted May 19, 2010 Author Report Posted May 19, 2010 Hey mate, yip it was all done with a mig, wire buffed first, (heated up with propane Jane if there was any sealant) then welded. Then ground back (most of the time) to reduce the size and weight of the weld. Bastard of a job!!!! Oh and the old car was a screamer, I love avgas!!! Quote
