Jason KE30 Posted December 24, 2008 Report Posted December 24, 2008 alright here's my problem i have an aftermarked steering wheel on my car now but as of last night its been makin an unusual clicking noise when i turn it slightly to the right it sounds like its comin from the indicators any ideas? its quite frustrating Quote
Trev Posted December 24, 2008 Report Posted December 24, 2008 Did you make sure the indicator return slotted into the back of the wheel properly? Quote
Jason KE30 Posted December 24, 2008 Author Report Posted December 24, 2008 ok just figured it out turns out that three allen key bolts going into the steering wheel had come loose so now i'm keepin an allen key handy from now on :D Quote
67Rolla-Ken Posted December 24, 2008 Report Posted December 24, 2008 I put loctite on the bolts holding my wheel to the boss kit. This might be a good idea if they are coming loose, would hate to be holding a wheel that is no longer attached! Quote
Jason KE30 Posted December 24, 2008 Author Report Posted December 24, 2008 true but if i ever want to get it off then i'm gonna have a bitch of a time gettin it off then considering its allen key heads i don't trust allen key's they strip or break too easily i mean my gearknob is held on with locktite and holy shit that thing is on there for good ya hear? Quote
trav_555 Posted December 24, 2008 Report Posted December 24, 2008 ahh o well, better it never coming off than whilst your driving mate Quote
towe001 Posted December 24, 2008 Report Posted December 24, 2008 There is more then one type strength of Loctite that you can get  And plus a dab of superglue on the end of the screw does the same thing Quote
SLO-030 Posted December 24, 2008 Report Posted December 24, 2008 Unlike superglue, Loctite being an aerobic compound it wont go hard until you screw it in (isolating it from air) so your not in a rush to get it in before the glue dries on the thread. Â Loctite is also great for jokes, an old guy i know put some on a workmates press studs on his overalls. Lets just say the overalls werent useable after they had to cut them off of him haha. Quote
SLO-030 Posted December 24, 2008 Report Posted December 24, 2008 considering its allen key headsi don't trust allen key's they strip or break too easily  That goes for cheap-ass chinese allen head bolts, grab some new ones from United fasteners and the only thing that will be the weak point will be the boss kit they're fastening to. philbey Posted December 25, 2008 Report Posted December 25, 2008 Spend the money and get a good set of Unbrako allen keys as well. Quote

Hiro Protagonist Posted December 28, 2008 Report Posted December 28, 2008 Good ol' genuine Unbrako socket head cap screws (Allen bolts to the unwashed) are the bomb. Just about every single bolt on every single component of our FSAE cars for the last 5 years has been an Unbrako screw, and not one has broken/stripped/sheared off. Quote
67Rolla-Ken Posted December 28, 2008 Report Posted December 28, 2008 ;) They easy to get in the right thread and length for replacing rolla bolts?? Quote
Jason KE30 Posted December 29, 2008 Author Report Posted December 29, 2008 so unbrako aye? might give it a gander need some to gather some cash first tho Quote
