Spacers ARE NOT ILLEGAL IF, they are conncted to the wheel. So rather than the Hub, spacer and wheel be 3 seperate parts. The spacer would be somehow attached to the wheel so the wheel and spacer become 1 part. Thats how i understood waht i was told.

Go to the wreckers and look in boots of R31s and Pintaras for the steelies. Skylines will be 15", Pintaras 14". You'll need to space the Skyline 15s out about 10-20mm, as they hit the brakes on a stock KE3x/5x/7x. I've never tried Pintara wheels.

Pictures here: http://wiki.datsun1200.com/index.php/Wheel

You can also get steelies made up, with any size band (width) and center (PCD) you like. Call a drag racing engineering place, look in Street Machine magazine for ads. They won't be cheap though, you could buy 15" mags for less.

There is a place at Sumner Park, Brisbane that will make/hybrid steel wheels to any width and offset for a flat fee. Sure they arent any shiny bling mags but you can get any width and offset for around 200 a corner. Thats gotta be the cheapest way to get 15x10s Ive ever heard of. I think the place is called racecar engineering.

This extract is straight from the SA Transport website:

WHEELS AND TYRES

All wheels and tyres fitted must comply with the Road Traffic (Miscellaneous) Regulations 1999.

The main points to note are:-

(a) The wheel track must not be increased by more than 26mm beyond the maximum specified by the

vehicle manufacturer. Maximum allowable tracks for individual vehicle models can be obtained from

Transport SA. The wheel track is the distance measured across the vehicle from the centre-line of one

tyre to the centre-line of the other tyre on the same axle.

(f) Spacers are not permitted between the hub and wheel (unless originally fitted by the manufacturer)

(h) Wheels that have been widened by inserting a spacer band are not permitted.

SA Transport

I'd say thats pretty definative evidence that spacers of any type are Illegal in SA.

I know that spacers of any type are illegal in VIC as well. NSW is the same i believe.

QLD Transport clearly states that "The fitting of spacers or adaptors between wheels and

hubs, additional to those provided by the vehicle manufacturer, is not permitted"

Well what i said is what id been told. If its not true then it isnt. But really, if I had to use spacers over 5-8 mm id find wheels with the correct offset to begin with. Unlike someone i know who used 25mm worth of spacer to fit FWD wheels to his ke30 :bash:
