hilux05 Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 (edited) hey people.. I'm Richie and for about the last 10 years ive always wanted one of these (well i reeeally want a te27 but you know, that'll never happen) so this being the next best thang, and when it popped up i thought, why not.. cheers to phatke20s it came with no motor, just a rolling shell.. but thats good as i have been dicking around with xe7x corollas for a while now and have a nice 4age waiting to go in, 86 struts, t series rear end, 15x8 rims all round, along with a heap of other stuff to make it work.. i like driving up in the hills so this will be built up for a bit of grip work and might even look into racing in proper hill climbs. so the plans in summary are: strip it back.. fix up the few rust spots.. maybe convert it to a late model front end.. paint it.. I'm thinking a bright orange or maybe british racing green 4age it.. convert it to 114.3 all round.. cage it.. drive it.. honestly i don't know much about these early ones, so youll all have to be patient and bear with me cause i will be asking a lot of questions.. like this one.. if i convert over to my ae86 front struts and use 86 p/s arms.. would it in turn give more lock like it does with rack and pinion steering?? if you have any handy hits on any of my plans, give me a shout cause I'm all ears and want to find out as much as i can.. let me know what ya'll think.. so enough of me talking, here's some pics.. Richie. this isnt bolted down yet lastly my inspiration Edited May 28, 2009 by hilux05 Quote

Tally Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 good on ya mate! if you have any KE25 specific questions I can help! Quote
HIGH ROLLER Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 Sick '25 champ. Personally i'd say leave the early front end on there...but i'm biased :bash: I think 4age is the best way to go with ke2*s...many people have done it, but still enough scope to make it unique. Keep us posted, with many piccies... Mark Quote
hilux05 Posted December 22, 2008 Author Report Posted December 22, 2008 (edited) cheers guys.. with the front end I'm not too sure yet, who knows, it might grow on me.. I'm just not a fan of the square light surrounds.. yeah can't wait to get the 4ag in there, and after a while ill be putting itbs on it for that sound that makes my pants shrink.... just need to make an adapter first. anyone got any drivers side front guards and corner lamp thingies they wanna sell me?? mines a bit munted.. Richie.. Edited December 22, 2008 by hilux05 Quote

oh what a nissan feeling! Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 Nice, i havnt seen another ke25 driving around the coast, will be good to see! Quote
hilux05 Posted December 23, 2008 Author Report Posted December 23, 2008 don't worry dougy, at least you got to drive it, i wont know what thats like for ages..... an nissan feeling i don't think ive ever seen a 20/25 driving around here either...so thats good.. ive been busy or bored the last couple of days, stripped me ae71 of all and any parts i thought would be handy, fuel lines, pedal box, column, brake/clutch master, boot release and other random things.. also degreased the bay of the 25 and started to remove the wiring.. next up is to take all the brake lines out cause ill have to redo them after casue ill be using a remote booster.. so anyone who has done this please help.. what have you used/done?? vh40/44?? what master did you use and also did you use a proportioning valve?? because hopefully i'll be using jdm ae86 front struts/brakes, i don't know about the rears yet.. i have a t18 diff so i might look at converting to a 4/5 link rose jointed rear end.. that would be noice.. I'm also thinking rack and pinion, the ae71 x-member wont fit (with out mods of course) about 1-2 inches too long, but just the rack should, only just.. few pics for the hell of it: degreased an nicer to work on off to the metal yard you go!! ill miss you... sort of.. the rims ill be running.. almost twice the width cheers, Richie Quote
SLW42 Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 hell hey :bash: that'll be a quick lil car when it's done!! is it gonna be a street reg'd car aswell? Quote
oh what a nissan feeling! Posted December 23, 2008 Report Posted December 23, 2008 4/5 link rose jointed rear end.. rose joints are not street legal, bushes are. Rack and pinion is also a huge prick to get mods approved. Quote
hilux05 Posted December 23, 2008 Author Report Posted December 23, 2008 I'm not too phased by the r/p.. and i probly wont go ahead with it, just an idea.. Yeah i know rose joints arent legal, they just feel so much better, but at the moment i just want to get it painted, motor in and drive it.. yep shall be street legal..for the most part anyway.. but she wont see much road action richie. hilux05 Posted January 2, 2009 Author Report Posted January 2, 2009 well i been feelin a little energetic over the holidays and managed to strip most of her down to bare metal, someone went a bit bog crazy down the pass side, tiny dents everywhere and a big one on the boot lid, also cut most of the rust out, will be welding in new bits later.... just got to strip the engine bay of all the brake lines an what not then i'll tackle that don't mind the crud all over it.. anyone done a hydro clutch convo on these puppies want to shed some light.. what i was thinking is to extend the shaft on the highlighted area about 30-40mm, then make it point down so that it pushes instead of pulling,, would that be the correct way to do it?? anyone got any better ideas with pics?? hilux05 Posted February 7, 2009 Author Report Posted February 7, 2009 (edited) hurrow.. i been lazy, havn't done much to the old girl.. got some carbies.. 45 dcoe's apparently tuned for a 2t so we'll see how these go on a 4age!! and a fire wall mounted booster.. i used an ae71 booster but i think i'll use a ke35 as I'm going to put the clutch m/c where the old brake m/c used to be, so i need a bit of room, in the pic its mounted over as far as it will go, probly 4-5 mill off the strut tower.... also i am now goin to make a new pedal box from scratch as i reckon it will be easier that way.. lucky i have a tig.. also probly silly question..but. would do you get the dam steering column out?? do i leave it connected to the steering box an pull it out that way?? meh i'm over typing.. pics peace out yo!! richie..
