I had a massive clean up in my shed ready for the next project, Put away a lot of stuff in my storage shed look i can move now. Quote
love ke70 Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 do you have a price breakdown on this sort of thing? I'm tempted to do it, but I'm pretty sure materials alone, even for a 2tonne GVM, so essentially useless trailer will be over 3K, theres a good looking one on ebay at the moment half done, but too expensive for me, second hand really is the way to go, but then you don't get what you want. your trailer looks the goods and I'm well impressed  cheers, andy Quote

love ke70 Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 must be a big bottle of gas haha, at least they last better than the pissy little $30 ones. your steel prices seem very cheap, i like it. might draw one up for myself and get some steal quotes, ive been quite happy with my welding of late, and mild is always nice and easy to do  http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...1598%26_fvi%3D1 i was looking at that, whats your thoughts? might have to ask the question about the suspension and axles its running... trav_555 Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 hey and if you were worried about price of steel, theres always second grade, its the stuff that gets scratched and dented, pick it up for next to nothing, bit more labour in it as you get dents and scratches out, but if you have time vs money its well worth it looks excellent, well done. orangeLJ Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 Few things that I noticed in this thread, don't try and mix 2 pac primer and acrylic base General rule of thumb is to keep acrylics with acrylics and 2pak with 2 pak. Some colours are clear coated from factory, others arent. Most, if not all 2 pak aftermarked resprays are clear over base. Not only does it help protect the colour, it provides depth and shine. The elctric brakes would have jacked up the price a fair bit, I still use over-riders on our car trailer with no dramas and If I was building a new trailer, would more then likely go with overriders for the simple fact that they are cheaper and easier, but still effective. The only other suggestion Id have for people building trailers would be to use the ribbon weave mesh instead of checkerplate, its alot lighter, just as strong and grippier. Id also leave the centre section of the trailer un-covered (can then double as a raised platform to work under if need be) as it also reduces the weight. Looks like it came up really good though, solid as an ox and should last you forever. Cheers, Chris Quote

Cheers, Chris I posted in here for help 12 months ago for my first 2 PAC project, I need to do a night school on painting or something , because for my next project I was told by 2 panel beaters to use 2 PAC undercoat and acrylic topcoat. as I mentioned above i bought this paint to paint a car however was told by a few panel beaters its more of an industrial paint, so perfect for a trailer, its got to last better than cheap enamel? It is fine to do so, I think I asked my brother a few questions for you about it... Most newer car touchups are done in acrylic and they are mostly painted in 2pac. Quote
