hey

I'm going be doing a Hilux rear end conversion into my corolla,

I'm looking at getting an 8" lsd rear end from an early model hilux, but its a 5 stud axle, is it possible to convert this to 4 stud ?, il be shortening the diff housing to fit it into my car, so would i be best just to get some custom axles made up or is there some out there which are strong that i can use which will be able to handle 400hp ?

cheers David

hmm, the reason i can't be bothered swapping the front to a 5 stud or 6 stud, is because my front disc rotors are 4stud, and iv already bought them at an expensive price, so i was hoping it was possible to swap the rear to a 4stud.

is the ford 9" and volvo a 4stud ?

after browsing toymods using their oh so elegant search function, all i could find was using a RN10/13/25/27 axles but use the RN27 housing(which i have), and then i have to get the axles re-studded(is that a word?:D), otherise stick with 5stud, and use ma70 rear discs, or possibly st205 discs and calipers

or

The Hilux axles are 5 stud and it is very easy to convert to 4 stud ,On the hilux axle flange there is a hole directly opposite one of the existing studs , Knock out the 4 studs other than the one opposite the hole and put one of the studs in that hole , That is 2 studs already done , Now using an old 4 stud drum as a template mark and pin punch the other 2 holes and drill out to the same size as the other holes , To get the studs out screw an old wheel nut on till the thread is a couple of mm from coming through and knock it out with a hammer , To put them in push them through the hole and sit a large nut over the stud and then screw a wheel nut on and pull them through ,Then mark and drill the Hilux drum to suite .

i think il do a bit more research though.

its worth a try trd ke70, i think iv got a couple of axles from a late '80s townace, so i might have a play around, i don't mind about getting custom axles, its just a hassle to wait for them :D
