Still looking at power upgrades for the 4AFE--

this is becasue of the 4WD gearbox cut out in the block issue with the AE95R- my car

I have been trying to find pictures of the 4AGZE block to see if it has the cut out in it-- no joy as yet

the wreckers I went to today didn't have a ZE engine there for me to compare.

If a 4AGZE has the cut out it might just be easier to get a front cut and do the whole changeover thing, ECU, etc-- any help on the ZE block having the cut out would be nice

failing that

I was thinking how hard would it be to graft a ZE topend to my 4AFE

so in reading up here there seems to be 2 types of ZE-

TPS and MAP

which type is more simple - the grunt will be great from either type compared to normal 4AFE performance

so I'm looking for the simplest to fit

I have a series 1 4AFE from a 1988 AE95R

The increase in torque will be most helpfull in getting the 4wd to move better

so any help will be great -- or would a 7AFE conversion be easier?

thanks heaps in advance

4AGZE has been done before with block mods, needs a few mm shaved off here and there. Rumour is the 20V block has the notch you're speaking of. A GZE head and factory manifolds / charger should work ok, pretty low compression though.

4AFZE - the bottom end may not last too long on boost, its not desgned for it. It's a bit $$$ to do properly, but have you considered a 7AGE? They are torquier (is that a word?) than a 4AGE and use a 7AFE block, so might bolt up to the AE95 gearbox without mods.
