the_random_hero Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 (edited) Hey guys, just wondering if there's any interest in a Toyota-only cruise sometime early in the new year? I'm on quite a few different Toyota-specific forums (rollaclub, TOCAU, ASC, etc) and looking to see some cross-forum promotion. At the moment, I'd be leaning towards doing the cruise for charity, maybe a $10 donation - BBQ lunch will be provided somewhere along the way. At the moment we'd be leaving from Southside, then travelling north, past Australia Zoo and up to Montville (for epic fudge and BBQ). After that, back to Caboolture Macca's and then home. Of course rules will apply, anybody acting like a dick will be reported to police, etc so don't think this is an excuse to drive like a maniac and get away with it. At the moment, I'd be looking at running four groups of ten cars including a group leader. The groups are: dailies (I'll lead), modern (DJKOR from TOCAU may lead), classic (JiP_001 from rollaclub can lead) and modifieds (possibly MR2Mark from here will lead). If you're genuinely interested, you need to post your name, car and what group you'd like to be in. The charity I've chosen is RSPCA, so all the money collected on the day will go to them, extra donations are welcome :) As I said to somebody in a PM, as soon as Xmas is out of the way, I'll get right in to organising things completely. I'm also looking for anybody who has ways to get stuff like drinks/meats/salads cheap/donated to us and I might organise a "Cruisers Favourite Car" prize. I'm hoping to hit up a few of the local Toyota dealers on the weekend and see if they can donate anything to have for prizes. For those tl;dr's: *Toyota-only cruise, $10 donation (going to RSPCA) *8th of February *Leaving from southside (around Springwood), heading up the Gateway, stopping at Caboolture McDonalds, then heading past Australia Zoo to Montville. BBQ provided. *Four groups of ten (possibly 15) cars, groups broken down into modern, classic and modifieds. Each group has a leader, who will be driving an appropriate car for their group. *Maybe a prize for the favourite car of the day (from votes). Need somebody to try and help get donations (meats, drinks, etc) for the day. *You need to post your interest, as soon as everything is confirmed I will need more details (name, rego, car type, mobile, etc). EDIT: THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION -MUST- BE EMAILED/PM'd to me before the 20th if you wish to be on the list. Name: Car: Rego: Group: Email Address: Mobile Number: I'm only going to have a copy of this so I can keep track of who's turned up or not, and if anybody does something stupid during the cruise. JiP Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 Yeah I may be keen. When you say charity, where does it go?? Quote
the_random_hero Posted December 17, 2008 Author Report Posted December 17, 2008 Yeah I may be keen. When you say charity, where does it go?? Haven't decided yet, it would be a straight-donation to a charity I'll choose at some point in time. Maybe World Vision, I've sponsored a child and donated a bit to them in the past. Quote
JiP Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 Raise enough money to buy them a Toyota :) Quote
AE80Rollaguy Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 Ill be there.. posted that on boost Quote
PHATKE20S Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 Sounds great.....count me in :lmao: Cheers Dougy Quote
the_random_hero Posted December 19, 2008 Author Report Posted December 19, 2008 I edited the first post guys, there's been a ridiculous amount of interest in this. I may have to bump the groups up to fifteen cars, or make another group or two. I might cruise up there on Sunday and see just how many cars we could fit in the BBQ area. Quote
JiP Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 Make sure you take into account that the BBQ area will have regular non cruise people there. So if its a busy spot then we will have to squeeze in with the regular joes. Quote
Trev Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 Ill be there.. posted that on boost As long as the boost dickheadedness does not come along with it. Quote
the_random_hero Posted December 20, 2008 Author Report Posted December 20, 2008 As long as the boost dickheadedness does not come along with it. I'm trying to keep that to a minimum. A copy of all our meeting points and route of travel will be given out to the cops, so that should help keep everybody in line. Quote
WinKE55 Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 Being a bit strict with the cruises. Might want to take into account that if anyone has a car that can be defected if cops get into a tanty mood then good luck to a few rolla owners.. Quote
PHATKE20S Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 (edited) Yeah Wink's right on the money there..... I don't mind a donation to RSPCA at all :P but...QPS No Thanks :lmao: The authorities will have a great :P day if they know exactly where we're going Maybe we could just behave and pass on the details of those who don't........ Just my 2cents Edited December 20, 2008 by PHATKE20S Quote
JiP Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 I'm going to suggest something, it may be a bit harsh but tell me what you think. I think you should state that "Your car should be in good working order, Break downs will not be stopped for and recommend UHF radios." At least the front and read cars should have a radio so they can communicate that everyone is accounted for. I do think that 15 cars is a bit hard to work around, smaller groups may be easier. Maybe have Classic 1 and Classic 2 if there are so many cars. I like the idea of 10 cars. That last cruise we had was with 17 and it was hell. Maybe if it reaches over 12 cars split it into a group of 6 and one of 7?? Just an opinion. JiP Jon. Quote

Yes as most traffic lights don't even stay on for 10 - 15 cars to go through, The last cruise i had to stop traffic just so we could get back onto the road. Quote
