Hi All

I'm a new member starting a new corolla project, based in Burleigh Heads Gold Coast.

bought this low km original 74 KE20

fa50_3.jpg

It arrives on Tuesday from Victoria by truck.

Scored a RWD 4AGE and T50 from Rolins Imports. Paul at Stoich Motorsports is doing the conversion early January for me. Looking for a stealth look....stock external, whitewall tyres, rear venetian blind, stock white interior. But under the hood Paul will be fitting:

- the 4age with turbo and custom manifold intercooler and piping.

- T50 and shortened hilux diff as driveline

Probably going to run a haltech havent decided yet.

Scored the Queensland plates 744AGE

Great forum will keep the build updated over the new month

car will be a lot of fun - i loved mine when i had it. the weak link will be your gearbox as i assume you will be abusing the car since you are putting in a hilux diff, maybe consider doing a w5x conversion from the start then it should all be fairly unbreakable. i had a t50 but only a bw68 diff, so it was all pretty light weight AND i didn't treat it like shit.

definately get a haltech - makes boost control simple and gives you a few ignition options. you will probably need at least 13" wheels to fit over even a simple brake upgrade, and maybe some mazda? hubcaps / whitewalls.

I'm going to store all the original mechanicals so if i need to can put it back to stock

just too tempting to build such a sleeper of a car

Noooo!!!!!

Seen this on ebay, its a really good example of an original KE20, way too good to ruin with a 4age

Should leave as is, and find another KE20 to chuck that engine in.

engine plans sound good anyway! just not in that car :)

Cheers, Ben.

I'm just having a pick haha

but ye there arent actually that many KE20's in this good original condition. I would know haven been looking for one for over a year now.

I do agree though if you can start with a base like this, why not? Saves you from doing exterior work, interior work etc

Will be an awesome sleeper, as mentioned though you will need to upgrade to 13s

Cheers, Ben.

well its been six weeks since i last updated and lots has been happening at stoich motorsports on the ke20. heres a summary:

- scored a overrated hicace diff with minispool and 4.1s already shortened with falcon discs and calipers (now fitted)

- bought and had fitted a hopper stoppers front brake kit (AU3 XR8 slotted front rotors and calipers...they are huge)

- had the 4age fitted with new gaskets seals water pump timing belt. bought a clear timing cover and adjustable timing gears. excedy clutch fitted

- engine mounts i bought from a member were perfect and the motor is now fitted

- t50 box fitted to standard cross member with an ae86 gearbox mount i bought from ebay

- fuel system set up in boot, battery mounted in boot

This week the shortened tailshaft is being built, and the shortened cables are being made. Have ordered some 15 inch superlites to suit the new ford stud pattern

Monday the turbo and microtech arrives with the bigger injectors. Will be a low boost set up until i can afford forged internals. Also next week the intercooler/radiator combo and piping are being fitted.

It should be on the road in less than two weeks. Will post some pics later this week.
