oopsiy Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 hey guys jus wanna ask a question before i start pulling out my auto. is it possible to pull the auto toyoglide out of the ke25 without pulling it out with the motor as 1. coz few people have told me to pull the box out you need to take the engine out too?? thanks Quote
Taz_Rx Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 No you don't have to, but its probably a lot easier that way. :jamie: Quote
oopsiy Posted December 15, 2008 Author Report Posted December 15, 2008 ok coz i don't really want to take motor out... so it still is highly possible? Quote
styler Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 its much easier to remove the gearbox with the engine out the car but can be done in car. one method of making it easier is to tilt the gearbox down to undo the bellhousing bolts. Quote
Trev Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 JiP and I did it in his 25, Was easy without taking the engine out. Quote
JiP Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 I wrote this up before but my keys went nuts. remove the tailshaft, loosen the engine mount nuts, drop the gearbox crossmember, remove engine/box bolts and slide box off. Now it is hard to stick it back on if your on your own. I did it tho :jamie: Quote
KE30_KE35_KE55 Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 With a pit or a hoist this is a easy job, to save a mess don't forget undo the three bolts on the flywheel then push the converter back-wards till it locks in. Quote
BReNt Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 Don't forget to drain the gearbox oil before you pull the tail shaft out lol Quote
styler Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 and remember to remove the starter motor and gearstick / auto shift Quote
oopsiy Posted December 16, 2008 Author Report Posted December 16, 2008 changed it last night guys thanks alot Quote
KE30_KE35_KE55 Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 Well done, Did you make a mess with the trans fluid. Quote
JiP Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 So did you replace the auto with an auto?? Or Auto for manual?? And what was wrong with the auto? Quote
oopsiy Posted December 18, 2008 Author Report Posted December 18, 2008 (edited) yeah went sweet as, old one was f***** since i got the car always slipping when it changed gears. so i bought a ke17 sprinter for $300 with a mate coz he needed stuff for his ke10 too and we just stripped it for what we both needed, i took the auto, radiator, starter motor, carby, dizzy, sun visors, window winders, stuff like that. and yeah did it by myself, lol a few oil stains on driveway which my dad was clicking about but its all good. so now was the first time i have driven it with a non slipping gearbox and its so much better, what a difference, its drives like brand new now, very happy... cheers Edited December 18, 2008 by oopsiy Quote
