seabiscuit Posted January 25, 2009 Report Posted January 25, 2009 Looks pretty mean, although it won't if you keep punching/kicking it! Have you got any plans of changing the rear wheels? They look kinda poxy compared to the mesh you have on the front. They look like front wheel drive wheels.... Quote
KE ping it real Posted January 25, 2009 Report Posted January 25, 2009 Hey George Nice to see the front bar on mate, looks heaps better compared to before i reckon :hmm: :hmm: Quote

They look kinda poxy compared to the mesh you have on the front. They look like front wheel drive wheels.... I'm going to leave the wheels for now, I'm trying to decide on what diff to run was thinking of ditching the r31 diff for a volvo one as the lsd is pretty average in the borg warner, Ill be able to cut the diff down to size to pump the wheels out more, also need to flair the rear guards. For now though i might run some spacers. Hey George Nice to see the front bar on mate, looks heaps better compared to before i reckon :hmm: :hmm: Thanks Andrew, i prefer the look of it now, actually looks like a corolla :y: hey mate, thats looking great, could you tell me the dimentions of your intercooler and did you have to cut the front apron? an intercooler is just what i need :hail: good luck with the tune and hope you get some decent numbers casey The cooler is one from justjap, its 450 x 300 x 76mm. Had to cut away at some of the front apron and also the grill, nothing too hard just takes time, the apron still sits againt the cooler at the bottom though you can't tell. Yeh i think its capable of making some ok numbers but it will be a time bomb around the 200kw mark so i might ask to leave it at 180 if possible, don't feel like spending the time or money on building another bottom end just yet. Now i just need to find time to get the car tuned as the guy i use doesnt work saturdays. Quote
13BT_KE20 Posted January 26, 2009 Report Posted January 26, 2009 theres plenty of aftermarket diff centre available for the R31 diff. You'd be better off spending the money on that than changing the complete rear end set-up. Quote

Its just sitting under my house. the 2 way centres are $ and i hate the handbrake setup on them. The volvo diff I'm looking at is out of the 240, 740. comes in many ratios, 27spline axles also its got twin piston calipers and a drum handbrake, they did come in lsd but its rare as shit. There is a writeup on toymods about them. I'm more of a welded diff kinda guy anyway, i drive my car for fun not practicality. Quote

Coupe-55 Posted February 12, 2009 Report Posted February 12, 2009 you want a 240 gl wagon diff, they have big brakes easy to get! anthing post 82 my parents used to own a 89 240, very big and slow, but stopped well! Looks tuff bud! Quote
furryfrog Posted February 13, 2009 Author Report Posted February 13, 2009 Cheers for the comment guys, been a bit slow cause I'm working lots of hours again, gonna call up about booking a tune this arvo hopefully within the next week or two, nice and wet outside in sydney and ive got no car to have fun. Coupe-55 Yeh thats the diff I'm after  ill have to put it off for a while but i don't mind changing standard diffs for a bit they are cheap and simple to do. Quote
furryfrog Posted February 19, 2009 Author Report Posted February 19, 2009 I'm finally getting my car tuned this saturday so i spent some time this arvo setting up a fuel system, bit of a quick job just to get it going, I'm going to get around to mounting the fuel pumps and making up a plate underneath for extra strengh. Only thing i had to buy was a low pressure pump, it does 100lph at 6-9psi plenty to feed the surge tank, then I'm running two vlt pumps in parallel to get a little more flow. cheap and nasty :D Quote
13BT_KE20 Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 the VLT pumps should supply more than enough fuel, basically the same set-up that i have in my car. Mate had the same set-up in a S2 RX7 with a bigger turbo, made 215rwkw and the fuel set-up was supply ample fuel for it Quote
SLW42 Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 yeah that setup should supply more than enuff fuel for what your doing man Quote
cuzzo Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 f@$k one pump would nearly be enough. Its going to be loud in the boot with three pumps. Quote
13BT_KE20 Posted February 20, 2009 Report Posted February 20, 2009 f@$k one pump would nearly be enough. Its going to be loud in the boot with three pumps. haha yep!!! in my car you can hear the pumps over the exhaust at idle. Alot of the time the second pump is simply used as a fail safe incase one pump stops working. It really is overkill unless your running over 200rwkw, but i personally like doing things once, which means doing it right the first time. More expensive initially but definitely cheaper in the long run :D Looking forward to seeing dyno results, GOODLUCK!!! Quote
