crispyke35 Posted December 16, 2008 Author Report Posted December 16, 2008 Hey mate, great looking car you have there. If you need to know anything about these models I'm the man to see. I have a few as you can see in my sig. Feel free to go through the threads. An easy and cheap engine conversion that delivers a descent power increase would be to swap the 4K with a 5K. All it is, is a straight swap, no mods needed. So where abouts are you located?? If your anywhere near Bris I have two spare 5 speed boxes here that I may be thinking of selling. So do you have any more pics?? I'm hell keen to see the rest of this beast. What sort of price were you looking at selling a 5 speed box for ? Also lookin for an alternator bracket. any chance you have a 5k spare ? Quote

crispyke35 Posted December 16, 2008 Author Report Posted December 16, 2008 Today has been the start of painting and body work for the corolla. Firstly the front of the car was pulled of so that a respray of this area could be done. The car was then prepared and some new black paint was applied. it looks so much cleaner now. Whilst doing this i also cleaned some surface rust out from were the battery had leaked and coroded the metal. i then sprayed this as well. Looking to complete the engine bay soon. Here's some pic's of what went on. Quote
JiP Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 Looking good mate. YEah, now that I'm selling up my projects I should have 2 spare boxes and 1 spare 5K's. PM me with an offer. Quote

crispyke35 Posted January 6, 2009 Author Report Posted January 6, 2009 havn't been doing to much lately. but have just given the car a service. changed the oil, cleaned the points, new fuel filter (it was blocked causing power loss when putting the foot down.) Some new front tyres. just keeping it running until i fix my other car. then some serious work can start. put some hubcaps on that were on special at autobarn for 10 bucks. they look pretty amusing. still looking for an alternator bracket if any one has one and could post it or pick up if close. pm me if you can help out. JiP Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 Hubcaps?? :P Please don't tell me they are chrome. Pics or ban  Quote
crispyke35 Posted January 14, 2009 Author Report Posted January 14, 2009 Hubcaps?? :| Please don't tell me they are chrome. Pics or ban :jamie: Nah there are definately not chrome just plain black just to cover the rusty wheels. sort of thinking black mags after i finish the respray but not sure if they will disapear into the car to much. also i'll get some pics soon. Just been putting a new clutch into a v6 magna (crap job i hate pull type clutches) which is front wheel drive which involves dismantiling most of the bloody engine bay. so hasn't been to much action over the last few days on the corolla but have been cleaning up the engine bay as much as possible. Soon though as in hopefully this week the long process of smoothing out some dings and sanding back the car for a full respray will commence. then after that the suspension will ready for a overhaul cause by then i should have some more cash. crispyke35 Posted January 15, 2009 Author Report Posted January 15, 2009 Thought id upload some picks. First two are the before and after shots of my efforts to clean up the very tatty engine bay. I basically just cleaned it as much as i could then removed all the instruments from the sides and prepared it for some black touch up paint. then put it all back together. Also there is a pick of the hubcaps. thinking about going with something similar in mags what do you think? might be to dark but i reckon it will look tuff. anyway tell us what you reckon. crispyke35 Posted January 15, 2009 Author Report Posted January 15, 2009 Hi there just changed the name of thread to something a little more appropriate " crispys project. 1975 ke35". I figured this will be an ongoing project which will hopefully get better and better everytime my bank account has a rise (uni budgets suck sometimes). also finally started to smooth out some dents. crispyke35 Posted January 19, 2009 Author Report Posted January 19, 2009 (edited) Update on the project. started to pull apart the rolla and getting prepared for spraying here are some of the photos. I was originally going to do a respray but only really go over what was already there. instead after closer inspection i decided the base paint wont be good enough so its all coming of and I'm going to strip it back to bare metal. hoping to have the car striped back and undercoated by late next week (fingers crossed). should be some photos of progress appearing in the next few days. first time ive ever taken on such a big project but will be fun. anyway here's what been done so far. A Bit over 33 years of dirt build up. Had some fun getting the bolts of the front guards next to the jack point. they were very stubburn one even needed to be ground of. ROLLA STORAGE. Cleaned out the shed at made some space luckily don't need much. Bonnet, boot lid and doors coming of 2moz. probably some more chrome aswell. Edited January 19, 2009 by crispyke35 Quote
crispyke35 Posted January 25, 2009 Author Report Posted January 25, 2009 Had to put the car on hold a bit this week. got called into work a fair bit on the sunny days and raining the rest. but anyway managed to strip most stuff of the car. The car doors are now removed, and all the panels except bonnet. removed most of the chrome parts. and took out tail lights etc. got lots of little bags now with all my bolts nicely labeled so it should go back together a bit quicker at lest. Wouldn't mind finding out how it accelerates now it has a whole lot less weight. :hmm: this is what it looks like. you can tell it was originally yellow. Quote
