ancullen Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 A lot of you will probably have already heard of or visited this site, but I thought I'd give it a mention anyway. It's about Toystar, a Mark 1 (AW11) MR2 with a 4.6L Cadillac Northstar V8 being dropped in. Don't ask me at what point it went from just having a V8 dropped in, to having a turbo'd V8 being dropped in, just enjoy the madness. The address is: www.v8mr2.com Quote
ancullen Posted April 1, 2005 Author Report Posted April 1, 2005 Now someone needs to invest HUGE amounts of money in doing a pure Toyota version. AW11 + 1UZ-FE/3UZ-FE = Awesome!!! Quote
Clown Posted April 1, 2005 Report Posted April 1, 2005 I think someone was looking into a 2jzgte conversion. Unsure on the 1uzfe conversion though. Quote
ancullen Posted April 1, 2005 Author Report Posted April 1, 2005 The 2JZ-GTE conversion would be interesting, though I wouldn't have thought that it would fit. I know that the reason the guy doing Toystar chose the Caddy V8 was because it was available with the FWD transmission, so all he (basically) had to do was squeeze it into the MR2. One option might be to use the 3.3L V6 from the Toyota Kluger. It's not that powerful, but I think it's positioned tranversely, which works for an MR vehicle. Or you could be boring and use the Camry V6. Quote

DEEONE Posted April 2, 2005 Report Posted April 2, 2005 Last time i went in one of them it was sick to do dounuts in. Imagine the G's that weapon would have spinning around. Quote
ancullen Posted April 4, 2005 Author Report Posted April 4, 2005 He claims to know all there is to know about AW11's, so he must be right. NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
irokin Posted April 4, 2005 Report Posted April 4, 2005 I'll tell ya right now that the front suspension is gonna be all out of geometry...thats if it doesnt fall apart.... Quote
ancullen Posted April 4, 2005 Author Report Posted April 4, 2005 perfect car to fit 2 engines to. Yeah, if you're prepared to completely savage the car, basically destroying anything the manufacturer installed. Plus, it would have to lose it's handling ability, as it'd have WAYYY more weight at the back than at the front, probably something like 30:70 front-to-rear weight distribution, so steering would be interesting. Of course, the guy does talk about dragging it, and it should be pretty good for that with the weight over the rear wheels as they are. Quote
Bill Strong Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 (edited) yep... the front end is being completely redone using a pre-made indycar style suspension / subframe made by a well know hotrod maker here in the US. The shocks will be in the frunk, so no more struts. The rear is also being done by another shop. A custom aluminum sub-frame is being built with the proper suspension geometry. I have never claimed to be a fabricator, as noted by your post about my rear suspension. And I was never happy with it. I know where my weaknesses are and where I should stay away from playing :D The goal of the car is to actually go 200mph. Now I have taken a break from the car. I am having to save up my cash for the front and rear... which is going to cost over us$6000. But in the end it will be safer and actually work. Now until then I am building another car, a MK1.5, 350hp 2 liiter 3sgte. This is where i am as of last night... just have one more mount to make, and then I can put the real engine in (the one fitted is an empty 3sge for test purposes, easier to move an empty engine than a fully prepped one) http://www.racingstrong.com/RSGT/day1/index.htm http://www.racingstrong.com/RSGT/day2/index.htm http://www.racingstrong.com/RSGT/day3/index.htm http://www.racingstrong.com/RSGT/day4/index.htm http://www.racingstrong.com/RSGT/day5/index.htm http://www.racingstrong.com/RSGT/day6/index.htm http://www.racingstrong.com/RSGT/day7/index.htm http://www.racingstrong.com/RSGT/day8/index.htm http://www.racingstrong.com/RSGT/day9/index.htm Edited April 8, 2005 by Bill Strong Quote
Bill Strong Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 and here is the car that 2.0 turbo is going into. Powered by a ATS CT27 turbo, TED Components 264 cams and lots of other normal boltons.. hp is expected to be close to 300rwhp. The car is a lightened 1986 aw11. ST165 front brakes, and I am going to try and fit ST165 rears on as well. Quote
