Jamin Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 hey . this is for a friend. he owns a car as the same model as the one in the pic and its a 4a-c auto and it keeps blowing head gaskets (5 to recall). i was thinking it was something to do with the way the radiatior was mounted and was making air pockets in the top coolent cilinder in the engine? could be wrong please help Quote
maxyboy55 Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 How old is the radiator? because it could be blocked, or completely stuffed and if (or when) you have air pockets, you should blead them out max Quote
Redwarf Posted December 4, 2008 Report Posted December 4, 2008 Did he have the head re-done at all? Is it flat still? Quote
Jamin Posted December 4, 2008 Author Report Posted December 4, 2008 he did take the head away to get machined and yes it is flat so i have no idea. could be radiator ill flush it and see Quote
Des Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 If it blows the head gasket your also ment to try and find out why it blew. Most cases its from over heating so get the radiator professionally check, replace the water pump and thermostat. Flush the whole system with the heater on. If a 4ac does a head gasket it is cheaper to buy a 2nd hand engine from a wreckers and put it in. Quote
orangeLJ Posted December 5, 2008 Report Posted December 5, 2008 block surface fine? no gouges or cracks? Did you check the head to make sure it is flat? or is that assumed? Is the head cracked? alot of things can cause the dramas. Quote
