KE70+AE92 Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 hey my 4k ke70 will not start. everytime i try to start it, the startermotor kicks in and the engine starts to turn but it wont kick over. this happened after i changed the battery, it was running fine before hand, i have checked all the connections around the battery but i can't find anything loose. it has got fuel i took off the fuel hose and there is fuel coming out. also when i push the accelerator i can see fuel being squrited into the carby i don't think its firing. is there a fuse or something that controls the coil that might have come loose that is located around the battery. I'm thinking about pulling apart the fuse box, the one near the battery to see if anything has come loose. i have checked all the fuse in it aswell but nothings blown. any help would be greatly appreciated thanks nathan Quote
DearmanKE Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 get the lead comeing form the coil and unplug it from the dizzy, hold the end close to the body of the car while someone tries to start the car, as the engine turns over the lead should spark to the body of the car if there is no spark then uve got a problem there. trav_555 Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 happened to me after i changed my engine, ended up frying my battery cause i had a lead resting against extractors and it melted through and was earthing out look at leads around exhaust/extractor area Quote

Go to repco and get a new ground terminal and some fat cable. Run a new wire from the positive terminal to the starter. Run a ground from the engine block near the starter to the spot where the battery grounds on the body. Make sure you clean all the threads and sand back to bare metal wherever you do up a ground. Sounds like its just down on voltage a bit and this should fix it. Quote

love ke70 Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 is it turning over at full speed? might be ballast resistor, they have this lovely habit of just stopping working. Quote
