demuire Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 Oh wow. I have no idea what a flex plate is meant to look like, but that doesn't look good! Quote
Medicine_Man Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 Damn, thats some twisted metal.. Quote
rwdrolla Posted March 31, 2005 Author Report Posted March 31, 2005 thats exactly what it looks like just coming out of the car. mechanic just gave it to me then, came home, and took a pic :D he said its put a slight bend in the back of the crankshaft too, because it took a chunk of everything with it when it disintegrated. kangaroosa Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 Dude, you killed it. Hehe. :D I guess your lucky that the whole thing didn't shatter. Are those things cast in one piece, or are the centres welded in? It just looks strange the way it has broken away from the outer ring so cleanly. How long were you driving it like this? Quote
rwdrolla Posted March 31, 2005 Author Report Posted March 31, 2005 welded in, not cast and i drove it for about a day. sounded like a fkn battletank too! was cool for a while, till i started engine braking.... Quote
kangaroosa Posted March 31, 2005 Report Posted March 31, 2005 I had a mate with a bluebird, that suffered a similar problem. he sheared half the bolts off, and so the wheel was sortoff just wobbling and pivoting on the two remaing bolts. He said everytime he backed off the throttle, it sounded like a wastegate on a turbo. But it was just bits of metal rubbing together as the wheel wobbled and scraped against the surrounding metal.
