Help,

Last Thursday the 20th of November this car was stolen from Northcote in Melbourne. It had been in the family for at least 20 years and needed some serious work to get it back to life. There were rust holes as big as your fist in the roof. It had a vinyl roof originally. I love restoring old things and my daughter needed a car. We both worked on it, well I did most of it but she made the new roof lining and helped lots putting the engine and gearbox back in after the respray.

Anyway the details. It's a Kermit green KE 30 4 door sedan. Interior fully restored no cracks in the crash pad seats custom grey cloth. Tinted windows. Four speaker stereo with 6 x 9s on the rear parcel shelf and you guessed it green trim on the peaker grills. Not quite as clean as the photo now, there are two small cracks in the paint work on the drivers side rear quarter. She got hit on that side not long after the car was put on the road and the repair was not as good as it could have been. Missing the passenger side front eyebrow trim and a small piece of grill on that side due to another bump. All panels straight. Doors have central locking.

I am prepaired to pay a $500 reward for information leading to getting the car back or at least if it has been stripped for parts identifying the thief or fence so that they can be prosecuted. If you buy a part that could have come off the car, send me a detailed description so that I can confirm that it came off the car. If it realy did come off it I will pay you the price that you payed for it plus give you the $500 reward so long as you can name the person you bought it from. I will hand the part over to the police so that they can prosecute the mongrel and hopefully make the world a little safer for corolla owners.

Keep your eyes open.

Regards, Frank.

Oh no!

People just look at old cars like this and think "Oh its a heapa sh*t, its worth nothin'. let's go thrash it!"

Some people have absolutely no idea.

They don't think about the value it has to the owners, and some of them that are worth a lot and have spent HEAPS of money to get it perfect.

They just have no respect!

If you find the people who stole it let us all know so we can hunt them down and burn them at the stake!

Good luck!

Great news everyone. Kermit has been found. A few bruises from some crap driving on the part of the thief but all there and fixable. Thanks for all the kind words and support. The boys in blue found it in a shopping center car park not far from where it was taken. So the next time you get pulled over don't diss the cops too much they can do good things for you too. Not much fuel left so it was taken for a decent drive. Now it's time for a new door lock ignition switch and an alarm to make it that bit harder for them next time.

Just read this thread now, shame to hear the car was stolen, good to hear it was recovered. I've actually seen the car in the Northcote area (before the theft) it looks/ed pretty good. If you still need a new lock ect. then PM me as I have some at work which are a deleted line so they're going quite cheaply. I have alarms too if you're keen and i'm not to far from your area.
