Lexxi[ke35] Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 (edited) Ok, so I went to FAQ and looked at what it said about diff ratios but I didn't understand any of it lol My problem is that my ke35 revs high like mad and mum's boyfriend says it could be because it used to be an auto and when they did the conversion they didn't change the diff or whatever. We were thinking of taking off my diff and putting in the one from our ke55 manual coupe. Could this be the problem and would swapping them over fix it? Thanks guys and girls, Lexxi. corollaart Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 Yes i think that autos did come with a lower ratio not sure what. But if its been changed to a 4 speed (k40) they are hopeless on hiway. Rev like crazy at 100 kms ,5 speed much better option. I would check what ratio the diff is first ,most manuals are 4.11. rob Quote
Falken_KE30 Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 auto is 4.1, manual is 3.9 I'm pretty sure. i got same prob. auto KE70 now 4 speed manual. revs at near 4500 at something like 90kays. and the speedo is outta wak too!! Quote
DearmanKE Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 yeah changing the diff wil make a diference beter off getin a 5spd tho autos 4.1 and manual 3.9 my ke30 has a 4spd and a 4.1 and its lame for anything above 60 thats not spirited Quote
Jono Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 ke55 borg warner auto ration is 4.33:1. Quote
Redwarf Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 4.1 manual, 4.3 auto (generally, there are 4.2 and 4.4 and 4.5's Jap's out there as well) in a 30/55. Quote
DearmanKE Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 hm gues i don't know what mine has then its a 30 with a jap auto weak as crap diff Quote
SLO-030 Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 Ive still got the auto diff in my 30 from when it was a 3k trimatic. the 30 then went to a 4k/ trimatic and is now a 4k/4spd. I'm either gonna get a 5spd and another auto diff or get another 4spd and get a manual diff. Lower diff ratio means quicker take offs. Quote

The lower the diff ratio is ie 3.8 : 1 means slower take off but bigger top end speed. The higher the diff ratio is ie 4.1 : 1 means quicker take off but slower top end speed. Quote
