Cam Timing

Having problems i think my cam timing is out,can only get it to run smooth

 

at about 20 degress advanced.

 

Its mildish 4k with tighe 154 grind cam webers etc

 

The harmonic balancer has three marks on it for some reason two on outer edge

 

and one on the inside edge of the pulley :jamie:

 

Whats the best way to check it with out pulling it a part ?

Mark on the back of the pulley is TDC. Ignore the ones on the front.

 

Remove spark plug # 1 and use a long handled screw driver through the hole to sit on the top of the piston. This will give you a visual reference of where the piston is in its stroke.

Remove the tappet cover so that you can see the rockers moving.

wind the motor over by hand while keep an eye on both the rockers and the screw driver and make sure everything is moving correctly, when it should do. :jamie:
