steve_tm Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 hey all i was sold this gear box saying it was a k-50, however after having a few mates look at it, no one can really tell me what it is! it looks like a T-50 with a bell houseing K-T the gear box bolts up fine to th K-5 engine, and the drivetrain from the auto that was in the car also fits the output shaft of the so called k-50. could someone please confirm what this box is, and if it is a t-50 or k-50 what do they come out of, since i have to chase down a shifter and box mount any help would be much appreciated thanks heaps Steve Quote
towe001 Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 Nice find And i'd reckon you would have gotten your t50 with a k bellhousing pretty dirt cheap to As for cars - most that had a t-series motor (like ta22 celica, t18) or an a-series rear drive donk (eg ae71) Quote
trav_555 Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 t-50, looks to big to be a k50 how much you pay for it? Quote
beerhead Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 (edited) He's right, your a lucky devil, def a K - T bell housing there. those bellhousings go for $200 on there own. It's a TA22 box by the forward sitting shifter. trav_555 Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 k boxes are mini lil boxes http://www.rollaclub.com/faq/index.php?tit...eries/Gearboxes read that if you need to know any more Quote

Xany Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 Just a question....what car is it going into? I may be able to help you with some info. Quote
tojo2 Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 Great find. The rubber mount can be from any t-box I think, but the shifter must be from a forward shifter pos. one (ta22 celica) Try to track down the one that was there originally. You can probably use a k40 gearbox crossmember. Quote
steve_tm Posted November 16, 2008 Author Report Posted November 16, 2008 Xany - Its going into a 73 KE-20, yeh if you have any info for it it would be awsome, cheers tojo2 - i've been told i can use th original cross member and just move it back to some pre-set provision holes. i'll find out when i give it a go this week, haha. all i'm now hunting for is a shifter, so hopefully i can get one somewhere without buy th whole bloody box. can't get hold of th guy i got the box/engine off tho, but i start hunting down th TA-22's at wreckers, hopefully i get lucky! cheers Quote

Taz_Rx Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 What did you pay for it you lucky bastard? Quote
camerondownunder88 Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 I take it the guy who sold it to you was wreckign a KE35 coupe? Most KE35 coupes were a T50 if they were a 5 speed model Quote

Most KE35 coupes were a T50 if they were a 5 speed model Ahh, wouldn't they be K50s? KE35s seem to be a lot more common than T50s with a K-T bellhousing.
