Super Jamie Posted April 14, 2005 Report Posted April 14, 2005 20/60 - bucketloads of torque, peak power at 6500rpm 25/65 - not as much torque but still heaps, more top end, peaking at 7500rpm i don't think any other cam profiles are as good, some have differing opinions. you can use stock valve springs up to about 0.400" valvelift (rocker ratio is 1.5 stock). i've seen cams with as much as 435 thou without cylinder head mods. i guess coil bind depends on what springs you end up using. stock springs are 70lb seat pressure convert to solid lifters too :S Quote
Super Jamie Posted April 14, 2005 Report Posted April 14, 2005 So all this cam talk... hmmm...i just want a cam that will work for me :S you have one, it's just in your 4k :wootjump: Quote
coln72 Posted April 14, 2005 Report Posted April 14, 2005 I swear by the Wade 169 in a 5k. Enough grunt to get oversteer in 3rd gear coming off corners while autocrossing but enough torque to be driven easily. Still don't know why people insist on changing to solid lifters when the standard hydrolic lifters allow big revs and you don't have to adjust them :S Quote
Super Jamie Posted April 15, 2005 Report Posted April 15, 2005 i'd actually like to do a comparison of cams, with proper dyno runs and driving experience tests. stewart swears by his camtech 609, which i think is too big. i'm going off dyno2000 results, which may or may not be accurate to a K motor Quote
irokin Posted April 15, 2005 Report Posted April 15, 2005 Still don't know why people insist on changing to solid lifters when the standard hydrolic lifters allow big revs and you don't have to adjust them :S hooray someone who agrees! Quote
Super Jamie Posted April 15, 2005 Report Posted April 15, 2005 can you hold a hyrdo 5k at 8500rpm and not have the lifters pump up? Quote
wilson_610 Posted April 15, 2005 Report Posted April 15, 2005 probably not but all i want is for the motor to pull up to 7500, don't need it to go any further. Quote
wilson_610 Posted April 16, 2005 Report Posted April 16, 2005 yep they might be but i have hydros and they will be fine for what i want to do with them... plus 8500+ rpm should be well into the next gear!!! Quote
Redwarf Posted April 16, 2005 Report Posted April 16, 2005 Not when there isn't anymore gears to pick! :S Quote
Super Jamie Posted April 16, 2005 Report Posted April 16, 2005 winding off the tacho is cool yo :S Quote
coln72 Posted April 16, 2005 Report Posted April 16, 2005 don't know about 8500+rpm but I usually have the shift light on (set at arond 7500rpm) for a full motorkhana with no problems :S Quote
blown 5k Posted April 16, 2005 Report Posted April 16, 2005 Hopefully spin my new 5k to 9000 rpm...should be good fun :S Quote
