PLated up the old shifter hole with some 3mm mild steel and good ol sika flex. figured it would seal better than riveting or screwing.

Also wrapped up the hole where the exhaust pipe joined to the extractors. Used some cerawoll blanket and fibreglass matting (like exhaust wrap). fixed it right up. now theres only sound coming out the back of the car. sounds a bit like a wrx.

As Luc said above. thats what the engine had on it when i bought it ( unbeknowns to me) so i slapped it back on and will get a good condish 4k head from UPI and get it machined so its dead flat and do the valve stem seals.

Raven was sayin a while back that a 4k/3k head combo with an sc12 tuned right could put out a nice torque figure.

Yeah it probably could. BUT you wouldn't make much power cause you would be severly limiting the amount of boost and timing you could run with that CR.

With a stock cam and the charger you're not really going to have a lack of torque. :D

Personally I'd leave the CR stock or drop it, then get 10+psi and 25o+ up its guts for a bit more top end.

Posted

Yep, the plan is to leave it stock CR and add about 6-7psi. As i said before, this will be a daily and i don't really wanna end up wih a car with no bottom end and all top end power. Reliability over brag ability (psi) any day :P

I'm gonna have to resist the boost bug, somehow. Might get another 4k mid this year and get it built for boost. Might get in contact with my mate that built the Turbo 7K :P Might get it boosting in the region of 10 psi......hmm.....maybe 12

haha if you don't wanna get bitten by the boost bug then you'd better sell the charger now!!! :P

Trust me its addictive, and worse than the rotor-bug!!

I reckon the secret to keep decent bottom end is just retaining your stock cam. :P

Well that matches up with everything else ive read/ been told.

Theres always the option of keeping this 30 the street driven on and getting another then drop a SC14'd 7K into it, mwahahahaha. oh the possibilities.

Oh yeah man i`ll second that!! It bites real hard too. Go for a big cam screw drivability and bottom end. :P

I have 8.5psi and that pulley equation says i should have 12 :) Addiction is telling me i NEED that 12psi!!

Keen to see a couple of photos of the charger sitting in the bay.

Good luck with it all, trust me the first drive is allways worth all the effort!

Oh yea, when we first got the 4k running i took it round the block twice once each with Jason and Luc. Definatly worth it.

I'm still yet to make new mounts for the SC :P gotta get off my arse and get stuff done at lunch time.

FINALLY, ive got the ball rolling on the mounts for the SC.

Should have 2 base plates finished tomorrow and start on the actual bracketry tomorrow arvo or later in the week.

not at this point. someone in adelaide has offered me one for free anyway. just using it to get the holes in the right spot. got the block plate made today.

Cutting supports tomorrow and hopefully get the aircon bracket on friday. drill the holes and oxy the hole in it for the mech fuel pump block off plate.
