TheGhost Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 gday all.... i'm new to the 7afe engine.... what sort of mods could be useful on this engine.... i have a 2" or 2 1/4" cat back and a pod with custom piping.... also anyone got a read up on how to build a 7AGE???? cheers rhys Quote
MYSTIK[RL] Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 this link should give you a rough idea on how to build a 7age >>>4age to 7age conversion Quote
Jono Posted November 14, 2008 Report Posted November 14, 2008 so you end up with 8.8:1 compression without a head skim? mmmm lol @ "i never thought id say this but torque really is very exciting too on the street adding a whole new dimension to the corolla!" gee, who'd have thunk it? Quote
MYSTIK[RL] Posted November 15, 2008 Report Posted November 15, 2008 so you end up with 8.8:1 compression without a head skim? mmmm lol @ "i never thought id say this but torque really is very exciting too on the street adding a whole new dimension to the corolla!" gee, who'd have thunk it? this guy just slapped the 4a head on to the 7a block, without changing anything else really, plus like i said it was a "rough guide". Sam_Q Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 you fit the 4age pistons as well, that solves that problem. Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 gday all.... i'm new to the 7afe engine.... what sort of mods could be useful on this engine.... i have a 2" or 2 1/4" cat back and a pod with custom piping.... You've done just about all you can without spending heaps of money.....headwork can open it up a little bit, but combined with a bigger throttle body and you'll probably need a piggy-back like an eManage to fix up the maps. TheGhost Posted November 17, 2008 Author Report Posted November 17, 2008 yeah i need to find the mixture screw cause after i put the pod on, it has leaned out too much i think.... Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted November 17, 2008 Report Posted November 17, 2008 yeah i need to find the mixture screw cause after i put the pod on, it has leaned out too much i think.... No such thing as a mixture screw on an EFI car :) What makes you think it's leaned out? Quote
TheGhost Posted November 18, 2008 Author Report Posted November 18, 2008 bit of lag now at bottom end of revs.... but top end goes overrated.... anything over 3500 is a nice kick compared to before.... i had one on my laser efi, hmmm! Quote
Jono Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 its probably your exhaust causing less backpressure at low RPM and yet flowing better at higher RPM. Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 i had one on my laser efi, hmmm! Ok then, _most_ EFI cars don't have one. It'd probably only be the older transition EFI cars that do, no need for them these days Quote
TheGhost Posted November 19, 2008 Author Report Posted November 19, 2008 its probably your exhaust causing less backpressure at low RPM and yet flowing better at higher RPM. well i would think a cat back 2" would cause that.... only started after pod went on hence my reasoning.... Quote
Jono Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 pod would be sucking in warmer air than with the factory air-box setup. Quote
Hiro Protagonist Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 pod would be sucking in warmer air than with the factory air-box setup. Which is why you put the pod behind the front bumper where the resonator normally goes, and fashion up (ie cable tie the spashguard open) a scoop for cold air Quote
TheGhost Posted November 20, 2008 Author Report Posted November 20, 2008 i have no holes anywhere to run a pipe for cold air intake.... Quote
