furryfrog Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 (edited) <snip>and when i try to start the car it is like there in not enough power or something is getting jammed then it finally kicks over That could be a bad battery, load test will tell you that. Dirty connections or possibly a dying starter motor. also check the voltage drop as you are cranking the motor. Edited January 5, 2009 by furryfrog Quote
bLinded_ Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 ^^ Sounds to me like the starter. Mine had the exact same problem. Brand new battery and leads to the starter and it still had trouble kicking over a tired 4K. Replaced with a new reduction one after it failed to be able to turn the 5K and I haven't had any problems since. Grab a multimeter and do a few tests though before spending money on a new battery or starter. :P Regarding ticking sound, if you need the car a daily and can't afford to take it off the road, best bet would be to just put up with it for the mean time and perhaps just buy another 4K in better condition from a running car. It's probably easier and cheaper to just pull the old one out if something major happens and replace it with another one over a weekend with some mates, rather than rebuild the one you have. But like others have said, just drive it till it dies. Quote
SLO-030 Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 i wanna pull the engine apart n find the prob but got no time and i need my car every dayil just keep going till it screws up even more + it is over heating For the sake of a day or 2 without a car. fix the problem now, before it gets worse. When it does finally screw up you could find yourself without a car for longer. Ive seen it happen too :P Quote
