ok well i have a spare gear stick and i want to turn it into a short shifter, its out of a k40, should still work in a k50 right?

anyway. is it really as simple as weldind an extension on the end and turning it on a lathe so it looks the same as it did before but just longer?

and then some plastic to hold it higher, however much longer you make it you stick a plate there same thickness?

just make sure its straight and stuff and your set?

whats a recconmended length?

cheers

Hi,

You got the process right extend short end space it up.

Now you can work it out yes. I drew it up once on paper as triangles and the big ball the stick pivits on was the fulcrum/root point the triangels were drawn from. So I workedout how far along the top one moved with your hand to how far the bottom one moved and then worked out the ratio between each one moving and presto I got kinda a ratio to use. If I find my scribble pad Ill try to scann it up for you.

But about 20mm extension is about right for a K box.

TRD run a 33% reduction in throw the T3 short shifter kit runs a 55% reduction.

But if you make it to short and daily drive the car syncros in it might crap them self.

Cheers

I made one for my T50, same as a KE70 K40 (maybe K50?) shifter.I used a spare shifter off a rooted 'box.

I cut and extended the bottom half of the shifter rod by 10mm, and drilled/cut a 10mm spacer plate.

Worked alright too, but my gears were rough enough already so i took it took it out.
