hey mate

sorry to here bout the car. i'm gonna join the general consensus and say stay away from the solex locks, there easy to pick once you know how. if your strapped for cash and can't afford a security system, like me, whack a kill switch in and buy a flashing light and stick in in the dash... looks like you have a security system so it makes them think a little first, should scare off half of them.

Hey guys,

Thanks for all your replies!

Since my last post we've had a good look over the car and discovered that the diff oil has all leaked out of the wheel bearing, the wheel weights are gone and the rear of the car has flexed as the boot lid no longer lines up perfectly.

It also looks as though the windscreen has moved outwards slightly. My boyfriend's boss was telling us that back in the day, the corollas had issues with rear windscreens popping out. Has anyone had any problems like this?

Anyway, we went to the wreckers and found a ke55 which we took both door locks, boot lock and ignition barrel out of. We took them down to the locksmiths and got him to match them all up. We're also installing a killswitch.

We've replaced the rear wheel bearing, put in a fire extinguisher and we are in the process of figuring out the best way to put in the tailshaft loop (fuel lines and exhaust are in the way and may need relocating) and have to take the throttle shafts out of the SU's and get them rebushed so the car runs how it should.

I also bought some actuators off ebay to install central locking, but I have decided that the car is probably only going to last a couple of competition days and it won't be any good anymore, so the actuators are being saved for the ke20.
