7shades Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 I get like that when I'm overtired/exhausted... its a vicious circle. You're buggered, and yet can't sleep... so you get even more buggered... until you have a whole day off and end up just sleeping on and off for like 20 hours of that day. Sucks. Quote
kangaroosa Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 Tried exercising? I started doing weights before i go to bed. I used to lay in bed for hours, occasionally looking at the clock and still not drifting off to sleep. Your heart races for a little while afterwards, but i have been getting the best sleep ever since I started. Quote
Taz_Rx Posted November 7, 2008 Report Posted November 7, 2008 Yeah they say some form of exercise befor bed is a good idea. I can recommend something other than lifting weights though!! :bash: If that fails..... :) :) Quote
Lexxi[ke35] Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 I had that. Exercising works, but I had these natural tablets that were like sleeping pills, but sleeping pills just knock you out, you don't actually sleep, your body gets no rest, it just stops working. So i used the natural ones and they worked they make you actually sleep. You can get them from natural health stores or whatever they're called. I think pharmacies also have them, though I'm not quite sure. And don't go thinking I'm a natural greeny and swear by that stuff just coz its natural, bekeive me, I practically live off codein. lol Quote
JiP Posted November 8, 2008 Report Posted November 8, 2008 I always thought weights before bed was bad. I always found that if I did weights before hittin the sack I was more awake and my heart was racing. Tho it could just be my heart being whacked. Could try sleeping pills. I still have some prescription ones left over from my maccas days, or you could try the herbal ones. Just don't pull a Heath Ledger. :y: Quote
Rich_Rolla Posted November 9, 2008 Report Posted November 9, 2008 I do very little work. I have a hot as girlfriend. I have a nice car. Nope....I'm good. Quote
Jason Posted November 9, 2008 Author Report Posted November 9, 2008 (edited) The sleeping pills make me feel hung over in the morning. The herbal 'Valerian root' works ok except i need about 4 strong ones to feel anything and they build up tolerance. Excersise dosnt really help ( :D ) Since I'm on holidays now i just stay up and until I pass out at about 3/ 4 in the morning. Seems to work :y: Edited November 9, 2008 by Jason Quote

(light weight) exams and stress and all that stuff = insomnia I'd say that's a fairly normal reaction to stress. The clinical definition of "chronic" insomnia is sustained trouble sleeping for a month or more. Insomnia becomes a problem when it stops you from functioning "normally". I got to the stage where I was having less than 2 hours sleep three nights in a row and I couldn't do normal things like work, eat properly (lost 5kg!) hold decent conversations. I have been prescribed anti-depressants for the insomnia and "anxiety" and still don't have a normal sleeping pattern, but I get enough sleep to do normal things again, and that's what's impotant. It can take a while to get back to normal after stressful stuff. If it gets to the stage where you feel restricted by it, see a doctor Edited November 13, 2008 by machg Quote
Jason Posted November 13, 2008 Author Report Posted November 13, 2008 Yeah it was chronic + 2 months. But its gone for now :jamie: Quote
