Calam05 Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 (edited) Ive been looking for a ke55 coupe for quite a while now. And finally I got one!!! I saw someone ask JIP 01 what his plans for it where, and he wasnt too sure what his plans where for it. So i jumped in ( when i saw it a months later after it was posted ) and grabbed it ( The full story ) I plan on getting it schmick so heres the start of the journey!!!!! this is after i put the square lights in. you can see the left light ( on right of pic) looks a lil crooked. doh i got a wheel for it, nice and fat. first thing ive done to a car where nothing has gone wrong!! i even got the stock wheel off with no problems. its nice and wide so i can see my speedo, but kinda obscures the clock. ohh yeah, could hold that all day. ive already ordered some carpet off ebay. i got the charcoal colour but wish i got graphite. i got outvoted by the people whose opinion i asked this is how it came from jip. its a bit rough in places and apparently was used in backyard rallies. pretty good nic considering that!! this is my twins. the sedan is now my brothers. I'm glad the brothers didnt get split up. this is before the eye transplant. i was gonna polish it today but dam it was hot. ill have to wake up early tomorrow. trav_555 Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 looks good mate, what you have in store for it? Travis Quote
Calam05 Posted November 6, 2008 Author Report Posted November 6, 2008 wanna get it all orignal with wrap around bumpers, a nice set of old school mags, gunmetal, glossy black or burnt yellow paint. and most likely a ca18det. cos from what ive heard they rev harder than sr20s, there cheaper, made better and run weekly without needing a rebuild. i used to want a 180 but never found a decent one for cheap enough. i found one today with a blown engine for 1500. dammit lol. my first priority is getting all the trimmings and interior nice. then the rust taken care of. it doesnt look like it, but theres quite a bit of rust underneath the sides Quote

I am confused if sr20's are good engines, every single person has a different opinion! Edited November 6, 2008 by smeetsy1 Quote

Looks good man, though if you are under 18 then good luck with the transplant of the engine if you are under the new laws. Unless you don't plan on driving it on the street. Good luck, keep up the good work. Quote
JiP Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 Are you planning on changing the tail lights to late too??? Quote
furryfrog Posted November 6, 2008 Report Posted November 6, 2008 Looks nice, i prefer the hardtops with square headlights. As for the engine they are both have their good and bad each person will tell you one is better than the other. By now they have all had a hard life so it comes down to condition and personal preference, I would grab whatever come around at the right price. You can get new carpet from a mob called 'Knox auto carpets' get to choose colour and what style its a 2 piece moulded carpet and i must say new carpet looks overrated in an old car. Quote

I'm still after a chrome rear! got a chrome front one thou =] =] lol ive found a rear bar only. Are you planning on changing the tail lights to late too??? yeh if i can pick some up. i hate the old round ones, i wish they were just the same as sedan lights! Think a nice SR20det would beat a CA18 anyday though everyone has opinions. Looks good man, though if you are under 18 then good luck with the transplant of the engine if you are under the new laws. man stuff that! i got my opens a few months back. i was driving a v8 at 18. ahh the good old days, fuel 98c/litre. yeh i guess ill have to look into it more. i don't really have facts just opinions. CA is a bit smaller tho so might be easier to get in. been in a nice sr20 and a nice ca18, sr20 engine blew up and the ca18 turbo blew up. ive heard the ideal would be ca head on sr20 with the t28 ball bearign turbo. but once again, only opinions. oh and my brothers sedan looks awesome with the round lights and grill!!
